I don’t know what to say, except that I never really thought it would happen. Surely someone or something would intervene — a power play by Andrew Cuomo, maybe, or a crescendo of popular sentiment against an obviously unqualified pick — to blast through the nexus of money, influence, and backscratching that’s pushed this dial tone to the brink. As cynical as we all are about politics, we’re not so cynical that we seriously believe the governor of New York’s going to appoint Caroline Kennedy to the Senate.
But I guess we should be.
The contenders based their conclusion on the view that Paterson, after nearly two months of indecision, would “greatly embarrass” and “entirely humiliate” Kennedy, anger her prominent political family and even offend President-elect Barack Obama by picking someone other than President John F. Kennedy’s daughter…Despite claims that he’s still undecided, Gov. Paterson is “certain” to pick Caroline Kennedy to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton in the US Senate, several unhappy contenders for the job have told friends and associates in recent days.

The Left thinks the Obama presidency attended by Senators Franken and Caroline Kennedy is Camelot.
I look upon it more as Dante’s Inferno.
What’s the hold up, hasn’t Congress already started?
They’ll probably end up picking her, to go in line with this celebrity crazed culture.

Hillary is holding out until her nomination is confirmed.

This is a good thing if the Reps can get any decent candidate for Senate, not to mention Gov.
The totally dishonest Whore Media was relentlessly vicious to the female governor of the largest state in the Union with the highest per capita income and a $20 billion budget she masterfully managed, a proven 80% approval rating (the highest approval rating of all 50 US Governors, etc etc.
This very same Whore Media gives a complete free pass to an authentically unqualified middle aged spoiled brat with less experience than your mother in law.
Money talks and BS walks.
Patterson is on the Kennedy plantation, and he knows it.
I keep asking, too. It makes them very, very angry that they cannot answer. If they say Senator is not as important as vice-president, remind them that Senator was Obama’s only qualification for President.
The Kennedy tradition continues. Oh, not of "service", but of bad speech. Ted's "uh uh ah" will be carried on in Caroline's "you know, you know, you know". How touching.
And Caligula named his horse as a Consul, or Senator.
Kennedy or horse. Decisions decisions.
A certain level, call it critical mass, of incompetence, corruption and just plain sleazy behavior will need to accumulate before efforts to brake the train will begin to take hold.
Piling on all the incompetent, corrupt and sleazy people early on will move that critical mass moment up in time. Bring on all the kennedys, geithners, emmanuels and burris' they can find.
As we learned the hard way here in Illinois — maybe it’s better to take the appointment process out of the hands of governors and have special elections. Not that that is fool-proof either, but at least it would make wanna-be Senators go out and “earn” the job by running for it.
Like you know she will be like Senator from like you know New York.
