Ryan Bowen was a commuter cyclist like any other but Barack Obama's election inspired him to trek across the country on two wheels for the historic inauguration on Tuesday. Bowen, 22, arrived here at midday Sunday having accomplished his goal after pedaling over 3,000 miles (4,800 kilometers) over the past six weeks from his home in Los Angeles, California to the nation's capital.

"I was inspired by the Obama campaign's message of change," Bowen told AFP.

Typical Obama voter. Flea-infested hippie type who apparently doesn't have a productive job, which is why he can waste weeks of his life cycling across the country.

So true.

Must be nice to have the kind of job (and/or Trust fund) where you can just up and cycle across the country.

Yeah, Margie, tell the boss
I wouldn't be coming into work today..."

While this man’s reason for doing so is idiotic, I can assure you that cycling across the country is far from a waste of time.

I did it myself a few years back and I’m planing on doing it once more next spring. It’s a life changing expierience.

Went on my own with a friend (who dropped out halfway).

This time I may go with a group. It costs a little more but not having to carry all my gear and having meals and rooms taken care of will be well worth the extra.

Also, just today I was checking the concealed carry reciprocity laws and it now looks like I can legally carry the whole way except Kalifornia. There were a few instances last time around where I would have felt much safer packing.
