This thread (if it survives the moderators) is meant to be an end of the Republic commemorative. Bracketed by end of the Julian calendar and the Chinese New year, I thought a repository of comments marking the rise of a new leftist messiah to be sardonic and fitting.

Before any FReepers hit the ABUSE button, please look around youself . . . with kooky vanities about just-the-right-puppy-breeds and the non-stop religious scripts and debates abounding on NEWS/ACTIVISM, I thought a simple question about what conservatives were personally considering doing during the promise of a new age of fascism might be worthwhile.
So, given that we're all of a conservative mindset and that (as adults) we all recognize what the next four years (or decade and beyond) might herald, I ask: What are your plans? Where do you plan to go and what do you plan to do in years of the coming darkness?

Amen, and this is a critical course of action for every American: Don't buy *anything* you don't absolutely *need*. Grow your own garden to reduce your food needs. Wear last year's coat. Drive last year's car. Vacation at home.

Deduct *everything* on your tax forms. Reduce your income, and you reduce the hold of this abomination on your life. Time to deprive the beast of sustenance. Make Federal Reserve Notes as critical to your life as S&H Greenstamps.

Sound advice.. I definitely have been more intensely drawn to the Bible ever since the election happened...I cant even put it into words...I have always been a believer in Christ , but its just like something clicked back in Nov, like God saying “ok folks, time to get serious” and have been more or less studying at least an hour per day since and found a nice local church..

Also done with the MSM..No need to pollute my mind and depress myself with their liberal, Anti-American godless drivel...Newspaper subscriptions, CANCELLED...MSNBCS, all CNN networks, BET, MTV, channels-BLOCKED.. (Fox news is on the verge of finding my block list too, if they keep it up with the Obama crap...I mostly only like Hannity anyway, along with a few guests they have..)..Severely restrict my movie-going, Hollywood can take a flying leap.....Rush, Levin FR, and a few choice other sites are all I need to keep myself and family fully informed during this 4 yr fiasco...

Gonna be much more frugal as well... purchase practically everything used , preferably through private sellers in classifieds or Christian thrift.. no big ticket items..Deprive the Dems of as much sales tax revenue as possible...Its bad enough that they are gonna be jacking up the gas tax again.

Spend a lot more time hunting and fishing, even gardening to save some money, although I am pretty much clueless on that topic, lol, so add me to the gardening ping :)

Get back into my powerlifting and Boxing workouts, also read a lot..Sound mind, sound body, that type of thing..

An Uneasy Conclusion

Friends, it’s my belief the entire end-time picture may be before us. And, it’s my fear that, because of doctrinal differences — some very minor — many of God’s people will continue to be uninformed. There is much more information. But, in light of all that’s been presented, I don’t think more information should be necessary.

It’s closer then he realizes, but he’s way off the map as far as understanding the Prophets.

Here are the 10 nations that unite against Israel and note that none of them are in Europe!

Summarizing, it looks like the top ten strategies (in no particular order) for weathering the next four years look something like this:

1. Eliminate debt of all kinds.
2. Cultivate frugal habits in all spheres of life.
3. Pare down expenditures and tax liabilities in order to starve the machine.
4. Buy lots of ammo.
5. Flee to the hills.
6. Flee the country.
7. Garden and hunt.
8. Learn and improve self-reliance skills.
9. Disconnect from popular culture.
10. Stay informed and fight back.

Seems to me that there's a whole world of information to be mined and shared in this list. Maybe an entire forum could be dedicated to ‘Conservatism in Exile’ and strategies and tactics for coping with the national crisis could be discussed.

I plan on working my ass off to create as much wealth as possible to help make my family comfortable, educated, prosperous and happy.

I have felt the same inclinations. Today, in my sadness over the condition of my country, I asked God to direct me to something to encourage me. I don't often do this, as I usually end up reading a verse that makes me feel worse, but I let the Bible open to the page it fell to and God directed my study to Nehemiah and his rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. Read Chapters 1-6. Nehemiah was a great leader. He prayed over everything, acted only after thoughtful prudence, and didn't fall prey to the naysayers and mockers of the day who sought to destroy what he was led by God to do. (Maybe we should use it as a guide for selecting our next conservative leader!)

There's great insight for us as 'rebuilders' of our burned and savaged nation, about perseverance and steadfastness in the face of fear from the enemy. Chapter 3 is a recounting of the names of everyone who helped build the walls and where they worked. Isn't that amazing that the little corner of the wall they helped rebuild is captured forever in the Good Book? It shows God cares about the little things we do to make a difference.

In Chapter 4, Nehemiah talks about how the laborers continued to build the wall while being under constant attack from their enemies, and how people worked with one hand holding a tool, the other holding a weapon. Chapter 5 is about the Jewish in-fighting and oppression that ensued amongst themselves during the rebuilding, and how Nehemiah handled it by calling the offenders out for their actions.

In the end, the wall gets rebuilt, without much Scriptural fanfare, but Nehemiah is clearly depicted as a true 'community organizer' of God and the stark contrasts of his leadership versus that of Obama's is quite apparent (particularly in Chapter 5, when he talks about his personal sacrifices for the poor). It's a good read. And I was encouraged. I think the message is that we're all supposed to be Nehemiahs, and we should be about the business of rebuilding the broken down walls of our own lives, whether the broken walls are in our selves, our families, our churches, our towns or ultimately, our country.
