Obama sets up national network to help policy agenda (Organizing for America)
Los Angeles Times ^ | Jan. 18, 2009 | Peter Wallsten

The network, Organizing for America, will be a tool to press for policy. It reportedly will have an annual budget of $75 million, making it an unprecedented standing political army for a president.

Telling millions of campaign supporters that "what you built can't stop now," President-elect Barack Obama today took his first public steps toward transforming his massive grass-roots political machinery into an unprecedented national network to help pass his policy agenda.

Obama is calling the new network Organizing for America, and while he described it as a tool to press for policies such as fixing the healthcare system, ending the Iraq war and finding new energy sources, he also said the effort would be housed in a distinctly partisan place: the Democratic National Committee.

That means the organization, as it grows, will be well positioned to form the structure of his reelection campaign in four years while also bolstering campaigns of Obama-friendly Democrats in the 2010 midterm elections and putting pressure on those in his party who do not agree with him.

The Ministry of Propaganda.

Every letter to the editor, every internet comment, internet trolls, etc. will be suspect now as being on the Obama payroll.

Not just the MSM climbing his leg and licking the ground he walks on hoping to ingest some of his saintly bodily fluids...

I'm already sick of looking at that fraud, and he hasn't even been sworn in.

Even as Hugo Chavez has started 'dissing' ODumbo, the Communist-In-Chief is embracing el-Stinko's tactics, starting with mobilization of fools, thugs and other true believers to help him maintain his regime's hold on power.

We'll see whether he can keep it under control, or whether the natural instincts of that army of losers will lead to vicious turf wars, internal purges, and chaos. That's what usually happens after Commies gain power, isn't it? I'm not willing to bet that ODumbo is smart enough or ruthless enough to keep his minions entirely under his control...

“It won’t be long before the Dems get pissed at him.”

Bumper sticker idea: “Obama lied, progressives cried.”

...How can he legally use our tax money for this?...

This isn't tax money, this is 'private" money, collected and administered by the party. They only intend to organize democrats, although public agitprop is aimed toward widening the base. They were able to collect and spend almost a billion dollars during just one election cycle, for one candidate. Imagine how much easier it will be to do that now that they own the government, from top to bottom. Party organizations parallel to state agencies are a major feature of totalitarian movements in our lifetimes. We should keep a close eye on this stuff.

Imagine a Republican President kicked off his Presidency by creating a national coalition to pressure for his policies. Impeached in a matter of days I would guess.

I've been trying that since 2006 (Not Obama specifically but the socialist left). But the sad fact is that unless you are well connected, it isn't going to happen.
The well connected are betting on appeasement.

“It’s just one tool among a number of tools that I’m trying to use, to break out of the bubble, to make sure that people can still reach me,” he said.

“If I’m doing something stupid, somebody in Chicago can send me an email and say, ‘What are you doing?’

“I want to be able to have voices, other than the people who are immediately working for me, be able to reach out and send me a message about what’s happening in America.”

He is entirely clueless about the amount of email that gets sent ...clueless.

With the RINOs leading the charge. Instead, with Chairman Hussein, the RINOs are already hoping he doesn't make any sudden turns lest they suffer broken noses.

IIRC, one hallmark of Hitler’s organization is that his minions were required to swear fealty to him personally, not the nation, not the party, but to him alone. This sounds very much like it. I don’t know how the Dems can stand against this with the group’s $75 million annual budget. They will have to swear the same fealty to Obama and Company or be left standing outside the door come the next election.
