Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, made a final plea this week to President George Bush to commute the sentences of jailed U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. “Because of the excesses of the prosecution against them, they will continue to sit alone in those cells for another decade,” Cornyn wrote, according to a report in the WorldNetDaily. “That is unless President Bush commutes their unjust sentences. In his remaining days as president, I ask President Bush to show mercy and use his clemency power to give back Agents Ramos and Compean the next 10 years of their lives.”

The President needs to commute those wildly unfair jail sentences.

I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be better to get 0be to do the pardon. It could be the first (and likely only) rectification of bad outcomes of the Bush Justice System.

Also:

Misplaced loyalty to former aide Johnny Sutton.

Ya know, Bush could replace Ramos and Compeaon with Johnny Sutton ... or is our new affirmative-action, community organizer in chief going to keep Sutton in the job?

Bush seems to prefer to pardon drug offenders, but will probably let these guys rot in prison. If he does, shame on him.

If the President fails to pardon these two innocent victims, it will leave an indelible stain on his legacy, as much or more than the stain on Monica's blue dress! I will find it difficult to vote for any Bush, even for dog catcher; to me, the lack of compassion will reflect on the entire Bush family, IMO.

I’m sure the GOP bluebloods are already setting things up for an Jeb run just like they did with GWB.

Bush seems to be loyal to his prosecuter that he asked to punish these men. Seems Bush was trying to gain points with Mexican authorities and sacrificed these men. History will not serve the President well in this regard.

This si not being stubborn. This is being self serving.

That seems to be what it has come down to. I worked for Bush both terms in pushing for him to become and remain President and I am sad to say it has come down to “there has been no attack on our soil since 09/11”, which is commendable! No doubt.

Sadly though, there are plenty of other things that have frustrated me beyond belief. Most especially in the past year.

I’m not under any delusion that the US has been a welfare state for many decades now but GWB slammed on the accelerator to make this country undeniably socialist economically.

I’ve wondered about that too. His actions with regards to illegal immigration and anything that threatens it make me think he’s on retainer to interests in Mexico.

If the President fails to pardon these two innocent victims, it will it will be his legacy. I would hate that for him but it is his base the folks who like him that will be disappointed and grow to despise him over this stubborn refusal to do the right thing by Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.
