"TAKEN"...The Movie Every Freeper Father Will Love

Sorry for the Vanity but I just finished watching this movie and it was great! No F-bombs, no nudity, just pure non stop action. Imagine if Jack Bauer's daughter got kidnapped. Not a movie for those opposed to "enhanced interrogation techniques" Since when was Liam Neeson an action hero??? The entire movie was like "THATS WHAT I WOULD DO IF ANYONE MESSED WITH MY FAMILY!"

Loved this movie!!!!

Pardon the vanity....this was a good conservative movie. Hero was the father, bad guys get what they deserve, no lib themes or overtones AT ALL (except the decision by the stupid mom to let her daughter go to Europe following U2 in concert because "all the kids are doing it") French shown to be corrupt, and more.

Taken is seriously the best action movie I’ve seen in years. If only they had made some of the scenes a touch more realistic, I’d say it was one of the best ever.

Who ever would have thought that Liam Neeson was tough enough to make Jack Bauer blush?

I thought Liam Neeson, the French slimeball, and the bad guys were all good.

But I’m sorry— the daughter and that Mom made the movie impossible to watch. The daughter was so fake, the daughter’s friend so MTV-whoreish, and the Mom so evil that I really couldn’t care less if Liam Neeson found her.

But I did enjoy Liam Neeson tortoring that Albanian guy or whatever he was. He looked like the guy from the Daily Kos.

Good movies are so rare these days! I love Liam Neeson, and can’t beleive that’s the same actress that played the snotty spoiled brat Shannon on LOST.

Here’s the link in case anyone’s interested:

I have read some reviews on this movie. Looks good but it hasn’t been released in L.A. yet. I do plan on seeing it.

Give 'Rob Roy' a view.

How could you have seen a movie that’s not even out yet, unless you own a theater?

I tried to sit through it a few times when it first came out on tape...never could do it. I’ll see if I can find a copy and try again. :)

I was going to mention Rob Roy. Liam was a very convincing tough guy. Not bad in Batman Begins, either, a couple of years ago.

Seriously, have you been paying attention to the dumbing down and liberization of American “culture” over the last 10 years? Their characters were completely believable in light of that, sad to say...

Well, first off, a dvd screener of the movie was released back in September, and secondly, the release date in much of the world was supposed to be in December sometime...I’m surprised to see the Jan 30 date...I thought it had gone through it’s release cycle.

It SHOULD be available on DVD. It’s online in perfect dvdrip form and has been for at least a month.

I saw it several months ago on watch-movies.net and was surprised to see an advertisment for an opening date this month.

I’ve watched several movies at watch-movies.net that hadn’t been released yet, Gran Torino was one.

Maybe it is guerilla marketing, I don’t know.

BTW...if you want to get people to see the movie, point them to the trailer:

It’s the best trailer I’ve ever seen hands down...it’ll make anyone chomp at the bit to see the movie.

Same bunch did the Transporter series
THey did Project 13 (Banlieue 13) non-stop action.

Wife made me promise to take her when it comes to town - not too hard a sale I would add.

The Banlieue 13 is out on DVD, worth the rental if for the stunts if nothing else.

IMO, Bruce Willis is still the top badass action guy for now.

Not sure what the deal on release dates is. It is due out January 30, 2009 in the US. I googled under news and found this:
"Actor Liam Neeson poses during a photo call to promote his movie 'Taken' which is titled in Germany as '96 Hours', in Berlin on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009. (AP Photo/Markus Schreiber)"

You were right, it did come out in many foreign countries as far back as April 08 in France, while many other countries got in around November/December. The US release date has been pushed back a few times but its scheduled for wide release on January 30 thru FOX rated PG-13.

Foreign Total as of Jan. 11, 2009:
$68,765,044
