More lasts today
This morning President & Mrs. Bush departed the White House for Camp David, Maryland, where they will spend their last weekend as the First Couple before Tuesdays inauguration.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave her final press conference today at the State Department in Washington. She also met with Israels Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. Dr. Rices last official act as Secretary of State was signing a memorandum with Foreign Minister Livni that will help prevent arms smuggling to terrorists in Gaza.
And today Press Secretary Dana Perino delivered the Administrations final press briefing (Transcript). Dana took time to pay tribute to her predecessor Tony Snow and to all the members of the White House press staff. But one name was conspicuously absent from her remarks.
Q Dana, you mentioned Ari and Tony, but I don't think I heard you mention Scott. Was that a slight or was that -- was anything deliberate --Dana: No harm meant, I just didn't mention him.
What did you think of his comments [on MSNBC] last night?
Dana: I didn't bother watching them.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
An absolutely wonderful thread put together by silent_jonny. Don’t miss #52 (Tony Snow).
“Perhaps Mr. Bush was inspired to go out by President-elect Barack Obama, who went out to dinner a few nights ago at Equinox...Or maybe he wanted to speed through the streets of Washington and let people think he was Obama, so they would wave and cheer.”
Yeah, let's show the new president the same courtesy the media has shown our CURRENT President. Fuming here!
Thank you, STARWISE, for the ping. Sent mine just now.
I sent mine. I hope someone’s going to go through them and delete the slobbering-with-hostility ones he’s going to get.
If ANYONE treats 'That One' the same way the MSM has treated President Bush, they'll be accused of being racist.
Whew, thanks for the reminder. It was so difficult to type it through my tears but so necessary as he gears up for the onslaught from the critics who will blame everything that Obama and the dems cannot accomplish because of his administration. If I learned anything from this President I will try my utmost to do what he did best — turn the other cheek and ignore the ignorant.
Don’t miss the opportunity to thank him personally. See link in #268.
just sent a short one... thanks for the link and the reminder...
Dear President Bush,
You have remained steadfast in the office even though the easy thing would have been to cut and run, or give in to the naysayers.
I believe that you acted in the best interests of America at all times, regardless of the political cost, and for that I give you my greatest thanks.
I hope that the history books are able to see past the Bush Derangement Syndrome of modern journalists and tell what really happened on your watch.
I also look forward to reading your memoirs and those of your closest trusted advisors.
Enjoy your retirement

Dear Mr President and First Lady,
Your presence in the White House has been a demonstration of honor, grace, intelligence and integrity for eight years.
You both gave your very best in every moment, and are due a well-earned rest, but I will be sorry every day that you are not still leading our country in these desperate times.
Thank you, I will miss your presence in the news of the day (on my computer - since the tv media were not very “non-partisan” in their coverage of you and your administration).
Best wishes for your return to “normal” life, and please thank your daughters also for maintaining a life of honor and grace as a gift to their parents for all of these years.
May God bless and keep him and his lovely wife Laura.
Thank you for the head’s up! I told him I’ll be wearing my W2004 sweatshirt all day and NOT watching TV.
Thanks for the ping!
I’m in full agreement with you. Those of us who can ‘read between the lines’ see this clearly.
You’re welcome.....I’m so glad I got the note before today’s deadline!
W2004 sweatshirt...YEA!! I have a red, white and blue ‘W’ cling on on my car window. Yesterday, my husband said, guess that’s coming off on Tuesday......NOT!!!! That ‘W’ will stay on as long as we have the car....and it will go on to the next car...
Me too.
I emailed. :o)
Neighbors 2 doors down are originally from Liberia. They know all about dictatorships and sought to come to America in order to escape such a government system. So, who do they vote for? Yep. the “O”. We asked why they voted for someone with obvious Marxist beliefs. They answered, “He’s a brother.”
eye rollage.
Darwin Award recipients, imho.
Thank You!! :) I sent my thanks via that link.
