Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is pushing a plan to slash Minnesota's corporate tax, a plan that would immediately place Pawlenty in the upper-tier of 2012 Republican presidential hopefuls, if implemented. His name would immediately join the likes of Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal and Mitt Romney.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) used his State of the State address Thursday to urge state lawmakers to cut Minnesota's corporate tax rate in half.
"Today, I'm proposing that we cut Minnesota's business tax rate in half," said Pawlenty. "This means reducing the current 9.8 percent business tax rate to 4.8 percent over the next six years. This will take us from having one of the worst business tax rates in the country, to having one of the best. It will help us keep and attract more jobs."
Given that the state of Minnesota has never met a business it didn't want to punish, one would have to assume a difficult road ahead. But Pawlenty has shown that he seeks the national stage, and this would help cement him as a top conservative in an unfriendly environment for conservatives.
Skeptics might suggest that Pawlenty is hyping a proposal that he knows has no chance...

And it wasn’t just the buses.....all road diesel must run bio in MN......
The truckers were having a heck of a time this morning, as well, at -29F.......
Oh, that’s unbelievable in a state with such a cold climate. In Washington State the western side of the state where most of the liberals live (except the tribes and Mexican farm workers), the temperature tends to be moderate most of the time. The Democrats that control the state don’t care if the eastern part of the state suffers.
I got a better idea Tim....
Cut the tax rate to ZERO on businesses....they DO NOT pay taxes anyway. Customers pay taxes!
that is a plus, but I’m afraid he lost too much credibility for his handling of the senatorial recount fiasco.
