The Senate on Thursday approved a sweeping conservation measure as it tries to reverse years of rollbacks in environmental protection by the administration of outgoing President George W. Bush.
On a vote of 73-21, it passed a package of nearly 170 land and water bills and sent it to the House of Representatives, which was expected to give it final approval.
Barack Obama is set to sign it into law after he is sworn in as president on Tuesday, one of the first moves in what is likely to be a more aggressive approach toward the environment.
Democratic Sen. Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico called it one of the broadest conservation measures in decades. Mostly Republican critics, however, said it would deny access to lands for possible oil and gas drilling.

A little range time would probably help me relax a bit.You could go to the newly-designated wilderness and shoot at squirrels.Enjoy it while you can. I'll bet the lefties seize ranges and label them a toxic sites because of the lead.
“NEXT winter is gunna be tuff on them...”
I wonder, do the dhims think these things are not going to have an effect, do they think people won’t figure it out or do they not care?

All I can say is that when Mama and the Kids get Cold
There Will Be HELL To Pay!!!
FWIW it’s goin’ down to + 18 in NW Louisiana tonite,,,
(so they say)
We will have house fires from the heaters that some folks use,,,
Many O’Bammy voters will have to use space-heaters to
keep warm...
Yeah, it’s on the way down to about +13 degrees here in suburban Maryland tonight.
Food on Friday is homemade chili; that ought to generate some heat.
But yeah, these bumbass Obama voters have no clue what they’ve done. It should be our main focus to make sure they know exactly why they’re unemployed/hungry/cold/broke.
Now Ya’ Dun It!!!
You Said CHILI!!!
LOL,,,Just had to go take the deer meat out of the freezer.
Only down to +23 now,,,
I don’t think it’s gunna go as low as the forecast...;0)
Just call it the “let it all burn” bill. They try not to do anything un-natural in Wilderness, like fight fires. One of the reasons more than 200,000 acres of forest burned in my County last summer.
My chili’s not that exotic, just hamburger and the rest of the usual stuff.
Temperature wise they (radio) just said it was 16 degrees, going up to 22 today, then down to “9 degrees inside the district, 3 degrees outside the (DC) Beltway” tonight.
Brrrr!!!
Judging by the vote count, it was a bi-partisan butt-f***ing.
My chilis not that exotic, just hamburger and the rest of the usual stuff.

I bet it’s great stuff!!!
Meat Iz Meat,,, + “usual stuff”,,,
They lied to me,,,
It’s only + 22 this mornin’...;0)
Can’t you just hear the gears of enterprise grinding to a halt?
"Years of rollbacks?" What rollbacks? If anything, the Republicans continued the growth of the environazi movement. They SHOULD have defunded the EPA and spoke out against the myth of global warming but most remained silent or actually embraced the continuing BS (Newt and Pelosi, e.g.).
Oh well, it's irrelevant now - this country's finished. Game over!
... or other game. Several species are overpopulated - deer, rabbits, donkeys...
“Its only + 22 this mornin...;0)”
You’re not missing anything. It’s +10 at Reagan National Airport, and I saw the temp on the Bank clock say +12 when I went out to get more meat this morning.
Not legally. At most, you can hike in a short distance. It's off limits for hunting.
>>What rollbacks? There weren’t any.
Yep, but if you repeat a lie often enough...
>>donkeys...
Tastes / Acts like Chicken?
To each his own.
Sharply reduced supply of available land with continued growing demand --> Sharply increasing land prices.
Of course, when the price of land skyrockets, landowners will be immediately hated by the Left for their unconscionable greed.
To the ignorant, basic economic laws are scary voodoo.
