I must say that is a good point. Compassion could be different for many individuals.

I would say empathy but one could have empathy even in cruel behavior. Personally, I feel for those who can't help themselves and despise any form of cruel suffering. I just don't believe in killing indiscriminately.

Most well rounded people don’t. But that’s the problem. Our society generates some pretty oblong individuals. I like to urge people to beware of compassion driven tunnel vision. Some people focus on “the children”, others on puppies, but the social problem really encompasses all the symptoms. I wish people would focus on the greater problem with the anger and intensity that they reserve for the symptoms of their choice. All victims would be better off.
