There are so man “favorite pictures” of President Bush, but I think this picture is so very special because of everything it says without saying a word. To know the background information on that picture is to know the courage and character of the man.

President George W. Bush throwing a perfect strike from the mound in historic Yankee Stadium during the 2001 World Series about a month after the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01. He was wearing a heavy Secret Service bulletproof vest under his windbreaker. He went alone out to the mound in a stadium filled to overflowing. No protective detail around him. It was one of the most quintessentially American -- and the most brave thing -- I have ever witnessed.
