Notice the parrallel with Chavez?

Venezuela’s Chavez Eyes Feb 15 For Referendum On Term Limits

http://www.easybourse.com/bourse-actualite/marches/venezuela-s-chavez-eyes-feb-15-for-referendum-on-term-limits-586579

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has penciled in Feb. 15 as the date for a referendum that, if passed, would give him a license to run for re-election indefinitely.

The leftist leader, a fierce critic of the U.S. for much of the decade he has already spent in power, predicted in his weekly television broadcast on Sunday that half the country’s 17 million registered voters would back him.

Mary A. O’Grady : Dictatorship for Dummies

http://www.petroleumworld.com/Ed09011301.htm

“Certainly “elections” can’t be expected to matter much. Mr. Chávez now controls the entire electoral process, from voter rolls to tallying totals after the polls have closed. Under enormous public pressure he accepted defeat in his 2007 bid for constitutional reforms designed to make him president for life. But so what? That loss allowed him to maintain the guise of democracy, and now he has decided that there will be another referendum on the same question in February. Presumably Venezuela will repeat this exercise until the right answer is produced. “

one 6 year term for the u.s. presidency would be more than enough, and add some sanity to u.s. politics.

one 6 year u.s. senatorial term, same.

and 3 2-year u.s. congressional terms, same.

I hate to say this, because it would be a mortal sin, but I believe if this happened, some one would take matters in his, or her, own hands.

Shall we just short circuit this whole slide into tinpot dictatorship and show up at the re-education camps day after inauguration???

... That would surely reduce the anxiety and sadness of the slow loss of freedoms.

Why now? Apparently, the notion of Hope and Change has overwhelmed Serrano to the point that he just can't stand to see Barack Obama limited to two terms in office. Never mind the fact that Obama has yet to start his first term,

Obama may not make it past 4 months.

Don't sweat it -- any such amendment repeal would take place years from now, and would specifically not apply to the current President (which would in your scenario be Obama).

All it would do is affect the NEXT President after that.

The 22nd Amendment worked exactly that way, and there is tremendous precedent for such a restriction. The repeal would never get ratified without it.

When one considers what Bloomberg just pulled off with his own term limits as NYC mayor, this appears straight from the playbook.

The prospect of this happening is so frightening that I have made room for it on my very busy worry schedule. From now on I will worry about Obama serving more than two terms. I will do it every Wednesday between 1:00 and 1:15 pm, right after I worry about the Giant Asteroid and just before worrying about the heartbreak of psoriasis.

I just had a thought.

Maybe we should all get behind this.

Just think — then Bill Clinton could run again! LOL

Obama could beat Hillary, but no way would he beat Bill Clinton. Maybe that’s the way to put an end to Obama’s presidency after his first term.

If we do this; we will move into dictatorships and there will be nothing but strife and unrest with dictatorships being turned over all of the time. In other words, unstable. The dimwits may think this will keep them in power; but it will do just the opposite.

In the 60’s Guatamala was being overturned about every 6 weeks. I don’t know about now; but it would be the worst thing in the world to do. This is why we have democracy so that we may have a stable government. The dimwits want you to believe their methods are stable when they are anything but.
