I think the guy is beyond deranged, and I do like animals, but I have to ask why this guy gets five years in jail and we can’t put a rapist away for good?
Well I definitely agree we should put away Rapists for good, even capital punishment in some cases.
However I think 5 years is a just penalty for his crimes. If for nothing else that killing animals is usually a sign of things to come. $10 this guy is a murderer within 20 years.
OTOH, that "nasty, outdated, cruel, and judgemental" book, The Bible, has a few things to say about mandatory sentences for such things as rape and murder. Too bad Society ignores them; otherwise, people might see, and these things cease from among them.
And, no; Jesus didn't set that aside, as forgiveness in the spirit has nothing to do with not judicially punishing the flesh.
