Is Obama meeting with Rush Limbaugh tonight? (Answer post #75)

Sounds nutty, I know, but Ambinder breaks news that The One’s dining with “conservative opinion leaders” in Maryland, evidently at George Will’s house. Among the attendees: Bill Kristol, David Brooks, and … anyone else?

Coincidentally, I got an e-mail from a reader shortly after noon noting that Limbaugh had a surprise guest host today who spent the beginning of the show dropping hints that Rush had been called away to urgent business in D.C. and that it might have to do with something he said yesterday about giving Obama advice. I ignored it — but now they’re dropping hints on the EIB homepage, too.

“Anyone who thinks that a Rush meeting w/BO would change
Rush rather than BO just doesn’t know Limbaugh. I’ve
been a listener since his early days in Sacto (23 yrs)
and, trust me, Rush would flat-out school that empty
suit.”

Agreed. Anyone who thinks otherwise is daft.
Hussein is looking for PR and to charm the “snakes”, Rush will be looking for a chance to get through the ones thick condescending socialist skull.
Odds are slim to none of course, but surely he would try.

"I would rather our side have some foot in the door influencing decisions . . ."

I'd rather have Limbaugh's foot in the door than McCain's.

A typical Chicago pol 'dinner party'...

A wise Chicago pol knows that everyone has a price, all one needs to do is ask....Obami is asking...

And what if Obama kidnaps Rush like the terrorists kidnapped the Israeli soldier?

Have you noticed recently, that everything smells like burning rubber? Get an MRI. (;>))

when I saw David Brookes, George Will and Kristol were there I knew Rush was NOT there. It was interesting what they would have gotten from him though

60 stone, maybe. Getting 9.75 years older is no excuse for putting on that kind of mass.

We need Rush around, BADLY, for the next 4-8 years of the Obamamessiah (and of course beyond).

Remember what happened to Tim Russert soon after his face started being taken over by his cheeks? - heart attack, boom, gone. Sad in the case of Russert, disastrous for the country in the case of Limbaugh.

With socialists and journalists all relaxed and happy about change having occurred, maybe honest free market reforms are possible.

One can dream....

“I guess they’d rather have him meet some more with Bill Ayers.”

Agreed.

Whether he’s a liberal or not...

Whether it’s just being done for publicity or not...

When the president calls, YOU ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE!

Country first, not party (or petty) first.

It does not mean you agree with him to accept. I wish more folks here who claim to be “conservative” would take the approach familiar to us Reagan fans. When conservative ninnies were whining after Ronnie took money from the Log Cabin (gay) Republicans, he responded that it was not a sign that he agrees with them, but rather a sign that they agree with him.

I find it more than a bit disturbing when theoretically mature conservative folk here start sounding like juvenile DailyKos kids.

While I find the “Body Snatcher” humor funny, I’m not encouraged by our side learning the worst habits from the left. In other words, please don’t fall victim to ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) before he’s even sworn into office.

It is (or at least was) a hallmark of American culture that political power changes hands without bloodshed and that ideological enemies can talk publicly and / or privately without either side feeling intimidated into converting.

And don’t forget, “see, I told you so!” rings much truer when you’d personally and publicly seen them and told them so.

“If true - the left will go ape$hit - so lets hope this is true.”

Taking the president’s call is a duty.

Being allowed to represent the message of freedom, the tradition of conservatism and the much needed voice of optimism is an honor I’m sure Rush would perform with principled dignity.

If some see fit to react to this in an entertaining fashion, then that’s just a bonus.
