One serious note. I don't actually know if the majority of the arms used by the cartels come from Texas, and I doubt that Obama knows either, but I would suspect that someone like Chavez has a vested interest in making sure that the cartels have plenty of Venezuelan AK47’s or whatever weapons they need. Shutting down rifle sales in TX will just make it easier for the Mexican drug war to spill over the US border, without fear of reprisal.

You know, if La Raza and the other ‘hispanic’ groups really cared about those people, they’d be hauling guns to the peace loving populace to protect themselves. Mexico’s leaders have proven they will not protect their people, the people better learn quick they and only they can change Mexico and the various 3rd world thuggeries south of our border.

Actually it’s all the money there is to be made selling drugs that is the problem. Without all those billions of dollars there wouldn’t be massive drug cartels buying up weapons and killing each other and anyone who gets in their way. Our government estimates that these Mexican drug trafficking organizations gross about $13.8 billion a year selling drugs to Americans, $8.6 billion from marijuana alone. Cocaine is their second most profitable drug. They gross $3.9 billion from that but they are just the middlemen for cocaine which must purchased and smuggled from South America before they bring it in here. Marijuana is their cash cow. Just taking the money they make from that would be a crushing blow to them.
