In what will be a Lincoln-themed inauguration from top to bottom, Obama won't only follow in the footsteps of the former president - he'll also eat like him, it was announced yesterday.

Obama's jampacked Abe-apalooza moved into high gear with an announcement from the Congressional Inaugural Committee that it will hold a luncheon next Tuesday following the swearing-in ceremony that's modeled after foods Lincoln enjoyed.

As a southerner, I'm extremely grateful that Lincoln freed me and my ancestors from the despotism of the plantation class. This great man deserves a place of honor with Washington and it's a shame that Obama is trying to steal our great Republican hero.

Well the thing about Abe Lincoln's train ride is that he didn't ride into town on the train.

He was taken off the train about 20 miles outside of DC and finished up the trip hiding in an unmarked closed cab carriage.

In those days Pinkerton provided the security for the President, they were afraid he would be killed before he could take office so they sneaked him into town. The folks that went to meet the train were very disappointed when he didn't get off of it.

This is a bit much to hope for.He's a ghost. A man of mystery. He has no family, no people, no culture, no friends. Nothing. Maybe we are only inaugurating his white half?

I returned some books tonight at my local library and there was a huge picture of Lincoln at the front of the library with books featured about him prominently displayed. I fully expect to go back next week and see a display of 0 next to it Inauguration Day.
