Excellent links. Thanks for posting them.
Yep - a country that allows folks to riot and scream “Kill the Jews!”, yet if one of them said that they hated fags, it would be squashed as hate speech. Kind of reminds us of the USA these days.
However, I am not so quick to blame the Boomers. I am not a Boomer. Born in 1943, I am a War Baby, although we all have younger Boomer siblings.
I did my time on the Left. The organizers I had contact with were people who are now in their 80s or are dead. Many Boomers were successfully inculcated over decades and then, were available to support the academic/media inculcation of their own children. There are members of the War Baby and Boomer cohorts who were not successfully inculcated. There are fewer resistors in the Gen X cohort, which IMO, is a result of their inculcation being from their parents as well as from the schools/media.
It is an ongoing, complex undertaking to unravel the processes that have brought our world and society to this present point. In the case of Israel, I think many Boomer Jews believe that if there wasn't an Israeli state, then they would never have to personally confront anti-Semitism. So they join with the hard Left in condemning Israel. Of course, if Israel is destroyed, all Jews, everywhere, regardless of degree of faith practice, are vulnerable. Once the Jews are gone, the Christians will be the next target. After that, the factions of Islam and the factions of the present Left will fight each other. Then, there will be nothing left to fight over.
My husband is Norwegian. His father and uncles were partisans who did all they could to aid the Brits against the Nazis. Before they became enablers of the Islamic Nazis, the Norwegians became socialists, convinced they had found the right way of living. We traveled a lot during the 1980s/1990s and met many young Norwegians who seemed quite arrogant and entitled. I have met some as adults in the past 10-12 years, mostly visitors to the USA. They, too, seemed convinced they were among the most righteous of societies and that we should all follow their example. At some point, they will probably see their mistakes, but I am unsure of they will correctly discern the reasons that their society is failing. They may blame the West and the Jews instead of group think and socialism.
A few years ago, the pastor of my best friends’ church had several Norwegians as guests. I spent time with them at several social events, including a couple of dinners. I would say that about half of them (3 out of 7), were uncomfortable discussing issues concerning Muslims. All of them voiced dismay at the number of consumer choices available in America. One was romantically involved with the pastor and refused to move here. Instead, he has since moved to Norway, where they were married. My take, erroneous though it may be, was that socialism and political correctness were both something all of them embraced wholeheartedly. These people were all in their mid-40s to early 50s, at the time. I could understand if people were changing their minds about the Muslims, given the recent events. I certainly hope so.
I take it you are Norwegian? My husband’s family are from Bergen. He has always wanted to visit. He has inherited the sailing gene.
I sent the link to my 2 brothers in Norway. I’m hoping that they can tell me what some of the comments say.
