President George W. Bush will give a farewell address to the nation Thursday night, billed by the administration as a chance to reflect on his tenure and welcome Barack Obama without fighting old battles one last time.
Bush will deliver the speech, expected to run 10 to 15 minutes, from the ornate East Room of the White House. He will have a small audience of people in the room, chosen for their stories of personal courage.
White House press secretary Dana Perino said Monday that Bush will "uphold the tradition of presidents using farewell addresses to look forward — ....

Perino said the speech will be the last scheduled public event for Bush as president until he appears on the North Portico to greet Obama on Inauguration Day, which is Jan. 20.

Why is that? I have circumstances much better than I deserve and I'm right about this matter to boot. Based on his actions during his term, I don't believe that President Bush knows this word and if he does, I don't think he believes it or that it applies to us. May God help me for my own inattentiveness to it.

President Bush, the first day you took office my husband and I cried with relief. Not everyone remembers what the Clinton years did to our nation. Your humbleness and positive outlook on things has kept this country going. Your standards and vision of keeping our country safe have been above any president in my lifetime. God Bless you and Laura as head to Texas. May your years be filled with the joy of the Lord. May your children and grandchildren call you and Laura "blessed". Most of all, I'd like to thank you for protecting those of us who find it morally wrong to have money we've earned, go to federally funded abortions and protecting the life of the unborn. You have also protected us from that agonizing position. You have held back the tide and gave a repreive. We will fight on. God bless dear President and Laura.
I say God Bless you, George Bush, also, STARWISE; I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m sure the sour people making all these nasty comments about our President are jumping for joy, anticipating what Obama is going to do to our country—they can’t wait. I don’t even want to begin to think about the class-less remarks that had to be deleted.
I don’t waste my time reading about Obama and certainly wouldn’t waste my time on a website praising him. We sure have a bunch of cranky children aboard; tantrums are best ignored.

He was not an excellent CIC. He let Rumsfeld run the war while he kept his head in the sand. Many troops died because they were too chicken to “escalate” the war. They were afraid of the media. I spent 15 months in the sand and carried plenty of dead bodies in the back of my UH-60. I put my ass on the line many times. Bush could have put his ass on the line a little more if you ask me. taking trips to meet the troops in the combat zone doesn’t count.
I like Bush, but why did he have to be such a pussy when it came to the media? Typical politicians want us to fight wars with one hand tied around our balls. He finally got some backbone and pushed for the surge and it was effective.

If you’ve read Bing West’s superlative book, “The Strongest Tribe”, you get the details of how Bush abdicated his “decider” status and let things drift for years til 2006.
And if Bing West is a liberal type, I’m the Pope.

I know exactly how you feel! I just got a really obnoxious answer from one of our darling Bush haters. He/she told me to, quote: “Grow the f__k up!” unquote! I told them they have no right to talk to me that way on here, and they must have left their manners somewhere off the forum! This person has a lot of nerve. They seem to forget that the growing-up part goes both ways.
They seem to just hate it that someone has the utter nerve to stand up to them and argue with them! They must be small, mean people who can dish it out and not take it themselves!
Oh, and another thing I got a kick out of was where they told me to tell it to my crack-pipe! Now somehow that really got to me, because for one thing, I don’t have one. No.2 is, I’ve never used the stuff! I guess that’s something people use now to insult people when they have no better answers! An insult will do just as well to some of these people. Then they aim these really smart-alek comments and think their funny by typing “LOL”! It’s not funny.
By the way, I admire the way you stand up to them! Some of these rude people think that they are the only ones who have a right to get on here! But you do better than I do! (smile)
Oh, by the way Mr./Mrs. smarty-pants, I supported Terry Schiavo also! It made me sick how that husband, judge, and that lawyer treated her, then killed her! So don’t you dare use her to throw in my face! Who do you think you are?
