NEW YORK-When George W. Bush lifts off in his helicopter on Inauguration Day, leaving Washington to make way for Barack Obama, he may not be the only thing disappearing on the horizon.
To a number of social analysts, historians, bloggers and ordinary Americans, Jan.20 will symbolize the passing of an entire generation: the baby boomer years.

in my opinion, many in the greatest generation failed in their responsibilities as parents.
**********************************
They had some poor parenting skills across the board, but it probably had a lot to do with Boomers being raised on watching TV, too.

it is extremely sad that anyone would allow themselves to be categorized by assocation based strictly on birth year. these sorts of conversations are worthless for that very reason.

LOL! Audie Murphy. BTW I just squeaked in 2 1/2 weeks before the new year of 65 and thank God for it. My dad tried to give us a 1950’s upbringing and I give he and my mom credit for the hard work they put into us and for instilling in us those timeless values.

The Constitution lives???
How about a not natural born President, and this under the eyes of the Supreme Court when rejecting appeals.
Is the Constitution only partially applied, and therefore only partially upheld, based on cases and/or circumstances?

Rather, it's a sense that a cultural era is ending, one dominated by the boomers, many of whom came of age in the '60s and experienced the bitter divisions caused by the Vietnam War and the protests against it, the civil rights struggle, social change, sexual freedoms, and more. Nothing is ending. Barack Soetoro was brought up politically by marxists, communists, and anarchist of Cold War Socialism.

A conservative of Generation Reagan (misnomingly referred to as “Generation X”) may one day attain high office in this country.
Those “youth” who remember the Reagan years (from when they were in jr. high, high school, college) are hitting 40+ these days.

This really makes no sense. The whole article is crap. It was something for a desperate news day with nothing to write about...I know..I have been there, today included.
But wow. The article even admits Obama himself is a Boomer.

*Say goodbye to the Worst Generation.
If the WWII generation was The Greatest Generation which I can agree with, the Boomers are the worst, most self centered generation.*
Agreed, but one can easily imagine how that happened. On one hand, you’d have some parents in those days being very, very strict due to the lessons of the Depression/WW2...and others being very lax for the simple reason that Johnny or Judy smoking dope and wearing love beads was far less of a hassle than getting shot at by Germans, Italians or Japanese.
For a real hoot on this topic, read Joe Queenan’s “Balsamic Dreams”.

"...the Boomers are the worst, most self centered generation".55,000 plus names mostly of us 'Baby Boomers' are engraved on a wall dedicated to those that some say 'died for naught'. I see it as they, with their 'self centeredness' died to give you the right to call them the worst generation.

You forget Generation Jones, which is more conservative than either the early boomer or the X'ers. Gen. Jones delivered the biggest margin of votes to Bush of any age demographic in the 2000 election.
Here is the wikipedia entry Generation Jones
Sadly, Obama himself is a member of this generation. Here is an article on Generation Jones in the Election of 2008
Here is a short except describing GenJones:
- Dec 18, 2008 - Members of Generation Jones
were too young to really experience the tumult of the 1960s, though some of them were around to see it
Obama's peers were defined by Watergate, stagflation, gas lines and 20% interest rates
Their cultural touchstones were groups like the Carpenters and Steely Dan (on cassette or eight-track tapes, of course)
in Hawaii, young Barry Obama was tuning into "Soul Train"
They tend to be
more pragmatic and a lot less likely to get bogged down by the shibboleths of the 1960s, according to historians, marketers and pollsters.
Hillary vs. Obama was Boomer vs. Jones
McCain vs. Obama was Silent Generation vs. Generation Jones

Leave it to the CST to come up with a stupid article like this. Boomer's will be around a very long time and most plan to be real pains in the butt to these socialist goofballs. If they don't believe that, they should hide and watch.
