There is a move afoot to make a zone AROUND all airports where guns cannot be carried, transported, or possessed.

Imagine trying to get to Camp Perry or any out-of-state competition (like the Olympics) if you cannot get your guns NEAR the airport!

This is not intended to keep us safe, I think.

This guy just became a poster child for that concept. Many people will now jump on the bandwagon for special exclusionary zones (hey, the Heller case said it was constitutional to do so) around airports, schools, parks, churches, bus stops, cement plants, gas stations, streetlights, or public or private land. 0bama wanted a five mile exclusion zone, keeping evil gun stores five miles from a “school” however that’s defined.

I can’t believe the freepers on this thread who are advocating tipping your hat, averting your eyes, and kissing Big Brother’s jackboots as perfectly reasonable.

I agree. With your entire post. I take patterns of behavior and project them into future patterns of behavior (I study terrorism) and yes, I can see where you’re coming from. In fact, the model is right there in Great Britain. Remember their Olympic shooting team and the problem they had with “exclusion zones”? Parliament Square, IIRC. And yes, it’ll gain support from a credulous public...it’s ‘for the children’, of course.

“This guy just became a poster child for that concept.”

I disagree. I think he just became a poster child for the stupidity of that concept.

Making laws that ban possession in any number of areas surrounding schools etc is Unconstitutional. People have a right to transport firearms and ammo from point A to point B. Putting large buffer zones around schools, parks, or where could theoretically block transportation of a firearm beyond your driveway. Or make it illegal to own a gun because you live within a half mile of a school zone or something like that.
I see these gun free zones and buffer zones as another way to harass legal gun owners. If we can’t take our guns to the shooting range or hunting area without passing x number of park zones or school zones, or having to make huge detours is unconstitutional bullshit.

Pay close attention people. they could make it illegal to take your gun out of your house. Or transport ammo from the store to your home. Screw them if they think I am going to pay a fee for some stupid travel permit every time I want to take my gun(s) shooting or hunting, or just because I feel like it.
