The man arrested at Los Angeles International Airport with a trunk full of guns and nearly 1,000 rounds of ammunition said Saturday that he is a law-abiding weapons enthusiast who had no idea he might be breaking the law.
A day after he was arrested for suspicion of felony transportation of an assault rifle, Phillip Dominguez said he's confident he'll be exonerated.
"Our Second Amendment rights are being trampled in the name of law enforcement," Dominguez said. "I'm a law-abiding, taxpaying gun enthusiast. I have no felonies - up until now."

Fair enough. I would guess that most FReepers, including yourself, won't load their favorite weapons into a tool box and drive into the airport, with a thousand rounds, unless you have your papers in order.
I might be wrong, but most of us are very aware of the laws and the requirements, whether we agree or not. I saw again, either this guy was an imbecile or wanted to make a court case out of it. Either way I wish him the best of luck.
What is this do joo have zee papers BS?
Maybe this case will help clear the crap up on the "bear" portion.
Don't be an ass. You are not getting on any aircraft without "Zee Paperverk" for your weapon. Save your BS for someone who doesn't/hasn't done it. Mein FRiend.
Javoll!
This fight isn’t over yet.
I hope this fellow can shed light on the absurdity of this law. But based on a lot of FReeper comments I fear this country is doomed.
The same people who use knives and drive about in 6000 lb land missiles everyday are worried that some one could get hurt.
I don't think the military uses AR-15's.
I'm not convinced this person needs any support......nor is worthy of it. Your mileage may vary....
He had "his papers" in order. After six hours+ he found out that there is a little part of the law that (debatable) says that he cannot stop anywhere between his house and the range with that one particular gun. All of the rest of the guns and ALL of the ammunition are perfectly legal to take to the airport.
Do you have a problem with people who are not going on airplanes bringing their guns to the airport? If so, might I kindly suggest that you might be on the wrong forum as we value our freedom of movement and right to keep and bear arms for self-defense on this forum......
My mileage definitely varys from yours
Do you have a problem with a toolbox full of weapons being within shooting distance of your next commercial trip? How about this old boy was doing runs for a couple nutballs that can tag aircraft? Do you know why this moron was lugging a toolbox full of weapons around an airport for months?
I can conjecture just as well as you....
Hi Travis! Drop by gunsnet and drop a few posts...
ScreamingFist, There are thousands of us highly mobil construction types out there and many of us are gun collectors and most are gun owners. I’ve hauled 30 to 50 firearms and as much as 20,000 rounds of ammo all over the midwest, west and south. I do stay out of Kali though...
I just handled a group buy for my gun board forum of 500 twenty round G3 mags and 150 mag pouches out of my RV... </widemouthevilgrin>
I still have my Tyranny Response Team shirts from my participation in early 2000 action in Denver, CO. We had a run of them made in San Diego to protest the "bent one" on his visit. I expect to be washing those shirts for new rounds of protest after the inauguration.
I prefer the concept of innocent until proven guilty, unlike your assumption that NOTHING good can come from having one, two, ten or twenty or more guns within X miles of an airport.
Are those G3 mags still dirt cheap?
I know the answer is “NO” hence the group buy L0L
I bought a pile of them when they were 3~4 bucks
I can have a tractor-trailer load of guns and ammo at any airport here in Virginia as long as I don’t take them into the terminal. It must be another one of those asinine Kalifornia laws.
The best part of winter is that it puts the lid on riff raff.
layabout punks dont go out in it.
Do you see a lot of transient bums in Idaho? I thought not LoL!
Now Ca however..
Well, here’s what the law actually says:
“(7) While transporting the assault weapon or .50 BMG rifle between any of the places mentioned in this subdivision, or to any licensed gun dealer...”
Strangely, it does not say “without stopping”, or “directly” or any other such thing. I know that the California AG wants it to say that, but it does not. Do you think that a good defense lawyer can’t convince just one juror that that this guy should let off the hook?
