The man arrested at Los Angeles International Airport with a trunk full of guns and nearly 1,000 rounds of ammunition said Saturday that he is a law-abiding weapons enthusiast who had no idea he might be breaking the law.
A day after he was arrested for suspicion of felony transportation of an assault rifle, Phillip Dominguez said he's confident he'll be exonerated.
"Our Second Amendment rights are being trampled in the name of law enforcement," Dominguez said. "I'm a law-abiding, taxpaying gun enthusiast. I have no felonies - up until now."
(cont'd)
“As Dominguez entered the airport’s ring road, his truck was pulled over for inspection.”
I’ve driven down this accessway to LAX...
Apparently the “inspection” points are located outside the LAX property...I’m probably wrong since it has been a while since I was there...
Regardless of Dominguez’s intent, they got him on the illegal transportation issue, simply because he did “stop” on the way to the range to pick up his friend, in all places on the way to the airport...
Do I like it, certainly not...But those in California get what they elect...A bunch of crap...
I would have made sure I had a full tank of overpriced gas, go to the potty before I got in the car, and made a separate trip to pick up my friend, before I loaded up the ammo and guns to go to the range...Knowing the law...
But, like I said, y’all in California get what you elected...
I assume all of this “extra” information about the 1000 of .22 caliber amnmunition, and the different accounts of how many guns he had and what type of guns he had locked up in the truck, unloaded, etc etc...Will just prove yet again that when you have ten different reporters reporting, you’ll get ten different stories...And they are all wrong...
All designed to scare the unwashed, and solidify the un-Constitutional “checkpoint” activities around that particular airport...
I’m with Travis...The only thing I miss is the scenery...
I carry a pistol concealed most places, no permit even required here if you're not a felon.
The law in question is pretty clearly unconstitional.
If the passengers of the 9/11 aircraft had guns, the Twin Towers would still be standing.
I sure hope you’re staying warm up there.
if you go anywhere near an airport with an arsenal in your car you’re asking for. it’s beyond stupid. more stupid, even, than being in an airplane and saying, very loudly, “Gee, what would happen if I HIJACKED this plane?”
1) a pro-gun eccentric
2) a paranoid who is afraid that they would be stolen if they weren't always with him
3) was planning to shoot most or all of them at the range he was going to after he picked up his buddy
4) wanted to show his buddy all of his guns
anyway, it is none of our business and perfectly legal to carry all of your weapons with you.
It's not the quantity, it's what you do with them.
First, thanks for your answers. But, ‘none of your business’ is uncalled for. I had a sincere question, rude answers create a bad environment.
Oh boy, did you just step in it. I politely urge you to read the article and then read the posts on this thread before commenting further............. ;o)
That wasn’t directed personally at you, (I said “our”, meaning society’s. No disrespect or rudeness intended.
Thank you.
Haven’t you heard? Ignorance of the many hundreds of thousands of laws is no excuse!
Dontcha know - so true!
Just staying ahead of the ever changing .922 laws is a challenge.
You can get 5 years in the pen for having the wrong stock on your rifle.
I sent a CETME pistol grip to a FReeper legislator.
He had fun “menacing” the idiots on the house floor with it L0L
Well it’s been 23 below at my house for last few weeks in the morning, but I have a nice warm fuzzy feeling knowing I’m packing. :)
Amen X 1,000 brother!

So now, only gun dealers are allowed to have guns in their trunk?
I'm reminded of a sam adams quote about chains.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
—(Samuel Adams, speech at the Philadelphia State House, August 1, 1776)
