[history]
A secret Israeli plan for airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facility was scuttled last year when the United States rebuffed Israel in its request to fly through Iraqi airspace, according to a New York Times report on a covert U.S. program.

“Im not buying it...just like the Israelis purposely played the press for the last six months insisting they had no intention of striking Gaza. This sounds to me like a leak the Israelis wanted to make, so that Iran is lulled into a false sense of complacency that no strike will occur....until BAM!”
Bingo. I'm skeptical. Why?
1) It's the NYT. Do they care if stories are true, as long as Pres. Bush gets bashed?
2) Why would Israel or the US leak this? Most likely, disinformation.
3) What will be the result of this leak?
a) If Iran believes it, their guard may go down
b) President Bush is criticized by those who support intervention in Iran.

>>”Title is wrong. The US did not have plans for a strike. Just counterinsurgency plans.”
Isn’t that splitting hairs? Taking out their nuclear program is taking out their nuclear program, however accomplished, don’t you agree? <<
I’d argue that key point is that the Bush43 admin is ending and neither happened - there is every indication we will be dealing with a nuclear Iran with missiles that reach Tel Aviv if not Europe. And our hope is that Hillary Clinton can put her conniving to good use. Sigh.

I’m suspicious of anything from the NYSlimes. My bet would be that now that Obama got wind of the intelligence on Iran, he called his buddies up to do a little CYA should something happen under his watch with Iran. Kind of like...If Bush would have permitted Israel to get the bunker bombs, this never would have happened. Its cover for anything Obama does wrong I(again. Just like blaming Bush for the current financial situation, lets keep blaming him for everything so the one does no wrong.

Ok... I love Rush. I listen to him every day. But... we (the conservatives) FORGOT to nominate a candidate. We ended up with McNumbskull. We didn;t have a candidate in the election.
The Dems had the Beast and the Boy and had a field day trashing Bush well into the summer while McNumbskull was drooling on himself in obscurity.
In my humble opinion... Rush should have been championing a conservative for the GOP in the primaries. Nothing. McNumbskull wins and Rush spends WEEKS trashing him. the GOP is deflated. Then, instead of (being quiet) and letting the floppy eared boy wonder win so McNUmbskull could have focused on his incompetence, etc... Rush stokes up this Operation Chaos crap and the nation hears about crazy Republicans, Bush, etc. for 12 more weeks! By the time Operation Chaos was over, the whole nation understood that the GOP is evil, we are morons (and by nominating McNumbskull, we probably did look the part by then), etc.
In short, we would have had at least 12 more weeks to expose Obama. By the time the Dem primary was over we didn;t have enough time to expose him.

I hope W will feel good about this decision WHEN we get hit with a terrorist nuke. Why Iran still exists today is a mystery to me.

In order to hang on to your pet theory, you continue to choose to misinterpret the facts to make them fit.
It isn’t possible to reason with someone who has a need to believe something (for whatever reason), so I won’t.

You're a fool if you believe this story.
Iraq is a sovereign nation and it was THEIR decision to deny Israel airspace because of their vital national security needs. If it even happened.

"Expose him" to who?? Don't you understand they would've voted for him, even if he was suspected of murder & child molestation! King's "Dream" is dead. They voted for the color of his skin, not the content of his character. And it shall be that way for evermore. And the pressure will be on BIGTIME, for an endless array of black presidential candidates, henceforth, regardless of "the content of their character."

Not even close. This guy was the weakest candidate the Dems had nominated in 100 years. The Beast/primary made him a rock star and Operation Chaos re enforced the illusion. If he had been nominated early and we had had more time we could have exposed his birth issue, Ayers, Wright, Jackson, Rosko, etc. and hammered on it for months. Unfortunately, by the time the Dem primary was over, it was too late. The momentum was his and we had a VERY weak candidate in McCain. Palin was great but she was a babe in the woods (pardon the pun) and could not overcome the Obama star power. It was just too late.
