I suppose, inevitably, he would be required to get specific, but this is not smart politics:
President-elect Obama raised the jobs forecast for his stimulus plan from 3 million to as many as 4 million on Saturday, upping the ante of his economic blueprint for the second time in three weeks.
The president-elect also rebutted conservative claims that his plans would create new bureaucracies, saying 90 percent of the new jobs would be in the private sector, up from the "more than 80 percent" he claimed last weekend.
Revising expectations upward, at a time when every indicator points downward? Those numbers will come back to haunt him because, of course, it won't work.

He’s about to become the most powerful moron in history.
Does anybody besides me figure that that means 400,000 new gubmint jobs?
I keep wondering where the Magic Negro got that figure of 4 million. Must be another fictitious ACORN figure..
400k would be enough for his waffen schutzstaffel to be equal to the Army.
Wars make private sector jobs....
Someone has to make the stuff that our guys use to kill bad guys.
Up it to a gazillion jobs, it’s not private sector it’s government welfare, socialism.
He better talk to congress... they’re passing job-killers left and right...
Two options as far as I can see in order to get a trillion dollars BACK into the economy.
How 'bout this? Collect NO TAXES for 1 year. We'll give the US Treasury an IOU for our taxes to be paid for this year over a 20 year period of time at 0 percent interest.
or.... to create jobs, since it's going to be infrastructure jobs, OUTLAW any earth moving equipment or mechanical device. That's right... in order to dig a tunnel, flatten a road the only tool that would be allowed to be used is a spoon or bare hands and feet. Then just draft every able bodied person out of work and put them to work on the road projects. In order to build a mile of road through a mountain you'd employ several thousand people, paying minimum wage and get them off their asses and the public dole.
I can just see all the "unemployed" of Chicago or New Orleans lining up for work...hahahahahahahahaha... oh I just crack myself up. Can you imagine, somebody actually working for their food? hahahahaha... I'm so sure that it would NOT work that I'd propose it every time I had the floor of Congress.
Bunch of thieving hypocrites. This is a made up crisis that the libs want us to panic about. We should all "shrug" and minimize our financial footprint for the next four years. I don't need any new major purchases and lets see the democrat nipple people live off the government tit.
Pesto. The magic negro is appropo after all.
Either the focus group said that it was a better sounding number or the teleprompter had a hiccup.
Then for the conspiracy minded, Ayers had a plan to send a significant number to reeducation and elimination camps in the South West. It would take at least that many people to replace them in the private sector.
O got the word the draft is going to be reinstated so, you know, it’s going to “create” a lot more jobs you know.
Oh, yeah, O's promising to hire teachers, police, firemen, ... You know, the jobs that used to be under local control.
But at least O's got it down from last week's promise of 600,000 gubmint jobs. /s
Thank you for the history lesson.
I love FR!
And I’m sure the gubmint employee unions are thrilled.
Cut corporate and individual tax rates by 50%, no strings, no quid pro quo, no guessing who should be the governments lucky lottery winner of the week.
Then, for the government, do nothing. Sit back, do nothing.
The real welath producers in the nation will do what they do best - produce wealth. Getting rid of half of the wieght that is the anchor of taxes, good businesses will thrive and turn the economy around within a year.
Unfortunately, that leaves little opportunity for elected officials to bloviate in front of cameras about why they are so self important...
A lot of those private sector jobs will be union jobs.
