The plan being discussed would eliminate the independent homeland security adviserâs office and assign those duties to the National Security Council to streamline sometimes overlapping functions. A deputy national security adviser would be charged with overseeing the effort to guard against terrorism and to respond to natural disasters.
Mr. Bush's aides, including the national security adviser, Stephen J. Hadley, have privately urged Mr. Obama's advisers not to get rid of the separate homeland security office, warning that it would load too many responsibilities on the National Security Council and risk important matters' falling through the cracks.

Anyone wishing for Obama's success is either totally delusional, or is wishing for the destruction of the US as we know it.
‘wishing for Obama’s success’
Define success.
If he fails and people die, then no one should be happy for that.
Oh well, like our fellow RINOs say we should all pray for the Terrorist-Elect to succeed.
Christians will be the new target for investigations.
Great. This is not too hard to see that amateur hour is returning to the White House.
Obama is a "Seagull Manager".
Nope. He’s gonna keep all this power and try to amass more.
This is not looking good. I’m glad I don’t live in a major city or highly populated area.
Crap, Obama can't even manage a “Chicken Little” like Blago much less an “Attack Bomber” like Bin Laden.
“Define success.
If he fails and people die, then no one should be happy for that.”
If Obama SUCCEEDS in implementing his pro-terrorist policies, THAT’s what is going to result in us being attacked. Are you still wishing for him to succeed?
This is one of the main reasons a relative of mine is leaving the DC area and moving to Tennessee.
I think you misunderstand the concept of "wishing for his success", that is, wishing that he not be stupid and actually have good ideas and implement them. I certainly hope that he not be stupid and governs wisely and effectively as I would hope anyone would.
So yes, I want him to ‘succeed’.
In terms of pushing socialist policies. No.
But in terms of cutting and streamlining the Gov't. Sure, go for it. You can cut out the DHS and it would save lives. Allow people to carry CCW and other things. The Fed Bureaucracy is a joke. I don't care if it's a Rat thats cutting back on it.
The definition of *success* here seems open to interpretation. I think it was Bill O’Reilly who had a poll up that asked, “Are you rooting for Obama?”
I did not participate in the poll because it was not clear what that “rooting” was for.
I can only pray that Mr. Obama will he endowed by our Lord with the wisdom NOT to wreak undue havoc upon this nation.
“wishing that he not be stupid and actually have good ideas and implement them. I certainly hope that he not be stupid and governs wisely and effectively as I would hope anyone would.”
Do you see ANY indication of that happening?
As I said “Anyone wishing for Obama’s success is either totally delusional, or...”
I also wish that a nice big island will be created and I could move there. Do you think that will happen? That is more likely, than Obama “governing wisely”.
“If he fails and people die, then no one should be happy for that.”
You mean, if he SUCCEEDS and people die, don’t you? His goals are not yours. He does not see terrorism as a problem here in the US. It is, perhaps, a nuisance. His goals are: (1) To greatly reduce our intelligence capabilities so that bad Americans cannot gather intelligence against good-hearted people all over the world; and (2) To unionize what remains of HS. That is the success he is gunning for.
The consequences of his success will be regarded as a political problem offset by the millions of dollars in additional union dues flowing into rat coffers—and in any event he’s expecting to be able to blame pretty much everything on Bush for his first four years.
We’re going to get hit again and there’s no doubt who will allow it to happen.
That is the key, isn't it. 'Success' involves achieving a goal. Other than grandiose platitudes, I have know idea what his goals really are. He has criticized the efforts that have kept us safe for nearly eight years. I can hardly believe someone of such wrong mindedness would ever have a better idea of how to do the job.
No, I don't wish him success. I wish him miserable failure in all his attempts. However I wish our country well. The real answer to our current problems lies with the people and not with those pompous asses who think they rule us.
Getting rid of all federal funding for Planned “Parenthood” and the ACLU would be a great start to the streamlining.....but I highly doubt that will happen. ;-(
