North Berkeley BART Station windows were smashed in the early hours of Thursday morning in memory of Oscar Grant and all who are murdered at the cold hands of the police, according to a message posted on www.indybay.org by anarchists.
The message says in part, This action was taken out in response to the murder of Oscar Grant by BART police and in solidarity with the riots that have been taking place in Oakland. Our hope is that this action will inspire others to rise up against this atrocious police state in which we live.
This action was very easy to carry out and took no more than a few minutes to get done. We approached the BART station fully masked and carried stones, bricks, and spray paint in our gloved hands. We painted first as to not make much noise, and did so in block letters to not reveal any personal handwriting. We spent no more than 20 seconds smashing in the glass windows and then vanished into the night.
The message can be seen at http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2009/01/09/18560418.php
Calls to the Berkeley Police Department and BART were not returned.
Withdraw all police protection and let the barbarians run wild, then see how they like it for a week or two. Give all officers a paid two week vacation.
That’s when the arms should have been drawn. Vandalism, rioting like burglary, are nowadays like Presidential crimes - unpunishable!
I am stunned, I tell you! Anarchists in Berkeley? Who knew?
I am against anarchism, vandalism, and graffiti.
But that cop murdered that kid in cold blood. What did they think the reaction would be from the public? Last time it was a kid on a train platform; next time it might be you or me.
Using liberal logic I would state:
“We must close the BART down. If it saves just one life, it is worth it.”
No more stupid-ass under-used rapid transit systems that are not flexible yet cost hundreds of millions to build and prop up the rest of their lives.
Thugs in the urban gutters are destroying the inefficient, crime-ridden public transit that the rest of us are forced to subsidize for them?
I wish them the best. Hope they burn it to the ground.
If you find it difficult to spot the good guys in the Bay Area, it may be that there are NO good guys there.
There are good people everywhere. What’s bad is the culture.
If stuff like that happened where I live I could probably get worked up about it, but it can’t since I wouldn’t live someplace where stuff like that would be tolerated.
If you haven’t noticed, not everybody in Oakland is “tolerating” it, even moonbat AG ex-OAK mayor Jerry Brown sounded off. He said the rioting wasn’t anarchism, it was terrorism. Damn straight.
Where do you live, so if unsavory shite ever goes down in your neck of the woods and I see it, I can say, “Tsk tsk, I would Nevah, Evah, Evah live in such a dastardly place!”
I know there are good people everywhere, but that area is rife with that culture. The good people are being drowned in a flood of evil in this country.
Hey! I take exception to that remark. Was there not an Anne Frank in Europe? Was there not a Solzhenitsyn in Russia? Was there not a Sinatra in Hoboken? There's always one bright star in a sea of darkness...come on now...
I fully support authorizing police to SHOOT ON SIGHT any active participant in VIOLENT public protest.
Perhaps after a few hundred worthless POS were left on the streets - the meaning of PEACEFUL PROTEST would be seared into the crack fried brain housing groups.
College kids seeking to be relevant.
First of all, I didn't intend to offend anybody's delicate sensibilities and I apologize if I offended yours. Secondly, I live in East Texas. Out here not tolerating something isn't the same thing as a mayor "sounding off." It would be better described as not allowing it to happen, not permitting it, or, as we say around here, not tolerating it. If some anarchist shows up around here smashing out windows or creating pretty much any kind of unwanted disturbance he will quickly find that he is doing it in the wrong place and will be stopped one way or another. If your culture involves merely "sounding off" I can respect that, but it doesn't work here, which is all I said to begin with. I hope this response clears up any misunderstanding related to my original post.
I ride BART.
The 150 or so Oakland murders (mainly inner city crime) went un-protested.
I have heard rumors that Soros funds the “anarchists” in SF.
What the heck are you talking about? I live in the Bay Area. So do a lot of good people.
“Anarchists” really, really need to read the definition of “anarchy”...it seems to me that if police are out of control and randomly “executing” people that would be something anarchists would support.
