The line to buy a gun on this morning was long, if you take into account the time, the date and location, which was a Wheat Ridge shop barely larger than my living room.
Used to be few folks bought guns this soon after Christmas, the shop's owner, Rich Wyatt, is saying as we sat in the large overstuffed chairs in the middle of the room. Those who did, he adds, for sure didn't go about it only a few ticks after 10 on any morning.
The old man in the cardigan was standing first at the glass counter, almost caressing a brushed nickel .45, from which hung a $1,045 price tag. Last I saw him, he was picking out ammo.
"This is nothing!" a beaming Rich Wyatt said, gesturing at the three men at his counter. "Two weeks ago Saturday, I set an all-time sales record. And when I reopened the next Tuesday, I doubled that Saturday record. Doubled it! I couldn't have ever imagined it."
The reason, of course, is President-elect Barack Obama, or, more precisely, what some people across the country fully expect his administration will do: restrict access to firearms and ammunition.

‘Rulers LOVE unarmed peasants’
“I neevr understood why any American citizen would be against our rights.”
They’re wimps, idiots and cowards. They are afraid of their own shadow and are terrified by those of the opposite persuasion. When the next crisis comes we should let them go their own way and suffer the consequences, since once the crisis is over they will just stab us in the back.
Nice.
I am thinking about a Springfield XD 9 mm.
That reminds me. I need to buy another case of .223...
It is a general rule that criminals are not the ones going to gun stores to purchase firearms. If they are dumb enough to do so they are almost always caught.
Not a bad time to pick up a few additional guns, if you can, especially if they are at a bargain price. they will be excellent barter material in the near future, you will get a lot more for them later on.
Looks nice. I've never really looked at Springfield. Mostly S&W and Ruger. I already have a P89.
I hope all these people join the NRA too.
gun sales in our town are skyrocketing. the gun shop always has NO parking in front of it. been inside. long waits too. people are quiet and patient.
I know, but the government is afraid of an armed population.
Found my firearm on January 1st — a Glock 30 in 45ACP,10+1
Understand that it’s my first pistol.
Can’t help but love the “Plastic Fantastic”
Killing isn’t in my nature.
But I will do what I have to do.
Have to protect the family and the constitution.
Only has 110 rounds through it but I’ll try harder.
(Admin please be gentle)
Well, if the government starts grabbing guns, the first guns they'll grab will be those owned by people with permits and records of background checks.
I shoot the XD45 and love it...
From "Red Dawn."
As the protagonists flee the initial invasion of Calumet, they stop at a local sporting goods store owned by one of their fathers. He tells them to gather supplies and gives them several rifles and pistols along with boxes of ammunition (the father and his wife are later executed because of the guns missing from the stores inventory). In a later scene, Colonel Bella, the Cuban officer, instructs the KGB to go to the local sporting goods store and obtain the paperwork of local citizens who own firearms. The Cuban officer specifically refers to Form 4473, which is the actual BATF form used to record the sale of a firearm by a dealer to a private citizen in the United States.
