BALTIMORE — Mayor Sheila Dixon was indicted Friday on charges that she accepted illegal gifts during her time as mayor and City Council president, including travel, fur coats and gift cards intended for the poor that she allegedly used instead for a holiday shopping spree.
A grand jury indicted Dixon on 12 counts, including four counts of perjury and two counts of theft over $500. She was also charged with theft under $500, fraudulent misappropriation

11 paragraphs before they mention that she is a Democrat. If she was Republican, it would be in the article title and first sentence.

Sheila Dixon is the 48th mayor of Baltimore and a former member of the Baltimore City Council. She is the first African-American female to serve as the council’s president and the city’s first female mayor. Dixon won the Democratic mayoral primary in 2007, prevailing over her main challenger, City Councilman Keiffer J. Mitchell Jr., with 63% of the vote. She easily defeated Republican Elbert Henderson in the general election.

To be fair, they waited until paragraph ten to mention Shiela's party affiliation:
Dixon, a 55-year-old Democrat, served on the City Council from 1987 through 2007 and as council president from 1999 through 2007. She became mayor in January 2007, finishing the term of Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley, and was easily elected to a full, four-year term later that year.

Perhaps more damaging is the allegation that Dixon stole gift cards meant for the poor. For four years running, according to the indictment, Dixon received gift cards that were supposed to be distributed to needy families.

Did they get any video of the Dem mayor stuffing cash in her bra? If not, the charges should be dropped.
She [Dixon] also led the effort to pass Baltimore’s smoking ban. She has allocated record funding for campaigns to clean up Baltimore streets and she has expanded funding for affordable housing. While her critics complain that crime has risen in Baltimore during her tenure and that she is not paying enough attention to the issue, her record shows that she has increased police patrols,is cracking down on the possession of illegal guns,and is actively securing federal funds for crime-fighting programs.
Dixon is a member of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition, an organization formed in 2006 and co-chaired by New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston mayor Thomas Menino.
The Shoe incident
In 1991 Dixon waved her shoe at white colleagues on the Baltimore City Council and yelled, “You’ve been running things for the last 20 years. Now the shoe is on the other foot.” This incident led many people including some of her opponents to view her as a divisive person.
Dixon explained her earlier inappropriate comment by stating that she has “matured” since making the shoe comment and that she now attempts “to communicate better with individuals.”
In her first inaugural address as Mayor, Dixon alluded to what she considers people’s wrong impression of her and stated, “I want you to know that I am much more than a newspaper headline or a sound bite on the evening news.”
