LOS ANGELES -- A man who showed up at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday with a container of handguns, rifles and loaded ammunition magazines in his pickup truck was arrested, an airport official said.
Los Angeles Airport Police officers stopped the Chevy Silverado at 10:49 a.m. at a checkpoint on westbound Century Boulevard at Sepulveda Boulevard, one of the main entrances into the passenger terminal area, said Nancy Suey Castles of Los Angeles World Airports.
Was this the Man with No Name, or just another detail that was not included because it might perpetuate a stereotype?
Probably just got the wrong address for the great gun exchange the city has been talking about. BTW, that 37mm, was it one of those single shots or a new semi-auto version?
Obviously not in a locked metal box secured to the bed.
No way! Isn’t that illegal?
Why is it illegal? Did he try to get them past security?
Having a gun in an airport is not necessarily a crime.
I’ve never been stopped driving into LAX. I guess this guy must have looked suspiscious.
Whatz the beeg deal. Prolly he was jus meetin 36 of his buds, and they all forgot their pieces.
Probably just a guy who hates waiting in long airport lines...
arrested on what charges? some airports allow guns in the parking lot anyway.
I work real close by LAX, and they routinely check all trucks, vans and vehicles like this.
Trying to avoid a “Tim McVeigh II” get too near the passenger terminals...
Maybe they were concealed in his pants and he did not have a concealed weapons permit.
Amish again?
Not guilty.
Que to Fats Waller: "Amish behavin'...
This gentleman is obviously a proud product of our Imperial Federal Government Schools System.
Interesting. I have a feeling that this will be all a big mistake for the gunowner. I would imagine that a terrorist, gang banger or scumbag would have a rental truck, beat up van, or something along those lines rather than a nice-looking four-door Silverado with a hard tonneau on it.
Prejudiced I suppose - but it doesn’t seem to fit the profile. Some guy moving, selling the arms etc. Had one sitting on his seat that got noticed, or politely answered the police when asked “any weapons or explosives in the vehicle?” (Probably an “oh crap” moment right about then!).
Did anyone consider he might be going on a hunting trip?
If a person wants to hunt in a location that is best reached by air travel, then how are they supposed to transport their equipment?
What a waste of good firearms.
Bombay revisited??? Bet they had him pegged beforehand. One day this sort of thing will happen, just a matter of time.
