SEATTLE (AP) Hearst Corp. put Seattle's oldest newspaper, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, up for sale Friday, saying that if it can't find a buyer in the next 60 days, the paper will close or continue to exist only on the Internet.
"These options include a move to a digital only operation with a greatly reduced staff, or a complete shutdown of all operations," Hearst, the P-I's parent company, said in a statement. "In no case will Hearst continue to publish the P-I in printed form following the conclusion of this process."

"In no case will Hearst continue to publish the P-I in printed form following the conclusion of this process." I noticed they didn't bother to consider the option of not running the paper as a propaganda branch of the democrat party. Guess they don't care because there's still the Seattle Times to propagandize.

The PI has been to the left of The Daily Worker for as long as I can remember. I regard it’s demise as a sign of progress.

It couldn’t happen to a “nicer” bunch of commies. When I first moved to the “great Northwest”, I started reading the PI, but I quickly came to the conclusion that any “intelligence” in the paper was definitely “post” (as in past). Now I read the Tacoma Tribune, which, though leftist, isn’t quite as rabid as the PI. Good riddance.

Let's see... I've got $1.97 in change here. That should cover it.

Maybe if we could take up a collection ? ? ? oh well never mind. I tried to get a group together to buy Latvia or someplace up there, but no takers. Freepers can be a cruel group when you fall outside the mainstream of thought.

Enterprising conservatives could give it a shot and try to run one of these dead tree businesses.
Which is worse from bias POV the P-I or Seattle Times?

Which is worse from bias POV the P-I or Seattle Times?I don't read either of the papers anymore. I just use them to check movie times when I feel like going to the movies. But from what I've heard, the PI was the slightly more conservative of the 2 liberal newspapers. Quite a few years ago, as I recall, they began to share the same facilities to reduce costs, so the dissolution of the printed PI is likely to increase the printing costs of the Seattle Times.

The P-I is definitely to the left of the leftist Times. The P-I has a better sports page though, with the exception of High School sports, which the Times does a better job of covering.
The P-I’s editorial board is way to the far left. I won’t miss that at all.
This should be good news for the Times in terms of revenue though. Both of these papers are in the dumps financially. The Times recently went from 5-7 sections down to 3. It’s a shell of its former self.

If they shortened the name of the paper to The Seattle Post, they may find a buyer.
Dropping the "intelligence" reference would adhere to most truth-in-advertising laws.

Good Lord, they have a friggin Lenin statue in Seattle? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. What reason do they give? Is it obtuse, or do they just say we love murdering Communist dictators?
