Obama Still Asking for Money
Capital Research Center ^ | January 8, 2009 | Matthew Vadum

Twelve days out from Inauguration Day, the Obama campaign is still asking supporters for money.

The campaign's latest email solicitation makes the startling claim that the upcoming inauguration will be the "most...accessible inauguration in our nation's history." In fact, it will be among the least accessible inaugurations in the nation's history as an unprecedented security dragnet descends on the nation's capital.

Here is the email sent out today:

Friend --

On January 20th, our journey to bring change will officially begin.

We're organizing the most open and accessible inauguration in our nation's history. And we're doing it without contributions from Washington lobbyists or big corporations.

Just like we did on the campaign, we're relying entirely on supporters like you -- ordinary people giving whatever they can afford to make this an event for all Americans.

I know we've asked a lot of you. But changing the way business is done in Washington will take a commitment from all of us. Right now, you can help give this administration a strong start.

And if you make a donation of any amount before midnight tonight, you could be selected to come to Washington, D.C., and be part of the welcome ceremony, the swearing in, the Inaugural Parade, and the Inaugural Community Ball.

Make a donation of $5 or more and be part of the historic moment you made possible.

We have a long road ahead of us, and we're going to face some major challenges as soon as we start. But I know I can count on you every step of the way.

Thank you for everything you've done and happy New Year,

Barack

P.S. -- You could be there for this historic moment even if you cannot make a donation. You can show your support by sharing what this Inauguration means to you. Learn more here: [LINK]

Obama Still Asking for Money

Well, isn't that the primary job of a Community Organizer?

He’s still got 30 million or so in the bank leftover from the campaign, he’ll be collecting his whole 4 years, whoever takes him on in 2012 better be well funded.

Obama doesn't plan to actually lead for the next four years - no, he plans to campaign all during his first term, so he'll be in position to warm the presidential chair for the following four.

And campaigning takes money.

He's smart enough to leave the leading to the permanent liberal political class that already rules nearly every aspect of our lives.

Looking at the extended forecast for DC (which only goes through the 17th) the weather there is going to be in the 30’s. It could be a cold miserable day for attendees and a post from a previous thread said no food or water would be allowed to be brought in with 1 facility (bathroom I assume) for every 6,000 people. Also, you can expect that you may have to be there from 9AM to 2PM. You won’t be able to leave. Security you know.

The Obamas should read up on the Andrew Jackson inaugural activities which were designed to make the WH accessible to the people.

I went to the Bush inaugural activities in 2000. NO amount of money could persuade me to go near the capitol for this one.

This sounds beyond RIDICULOUS to me...

A Billion dolllare
A Trillion dollars
A GAZILLION DOLLARS

Why can’t we just pull out our old Monopoly games and use that money, it proably has the same worth as the paper the government is using, with the Money Paper Machine that is in overdrive....

LOL, I wonder how many are going to send in their $5 of hard earned money, and include in whatever method they use to transmit, their information so Obama can send them their plane tickets and lodging info:)

Hmm, I wonder how many will go to the airport expecting a ticket to be waiting there for them:) LOL........

Obama will spend his entire 4 years campaigning.

WOW! Who could resist all that.

The idiots that believe this guy and want to go see this fraud of an inauguration deserve all they get.

BTW The Globe has, as it's cover story, the Obama birth issue.

He still has thirty million and Hillary is enlisting the likes of Bon Jovi to raise money to get her out of 6 million in the hole. So much for socialism!

Anybody seriously considering a run in 2012 needs to have a minimum of $200 million socked away by Labor Day of 2011. On the Pubbie side, there's only one candidate that can do that, and we know who she is.

I'll be donating to Palin and Jindal.

Pawlenty/Romney, et al: absolutely no way! From here on out, my money's going to bona fide conservatives.

Hey, Obama...they can't afford to give anything because of that stupid socialist bailout crap y'all pulled, wrecking the economy more than it would have been if it had just been allowed to take its natural course.

A pox on BOTH parties for that garbage.
