Gaza Strip is a concentration camp, says Vatican
The Australian ^ | From correspondents in Rome

THE Gaza Strip has been turned into a "concentration camp" by two weeks of Israeli bombardments, said a senior Vatican official. Cardinal Renato Martino, the Vatican's justice and peace minister, was quoted by the online Italian daily Il Sussidiario. "Let's look at the conditions in Gaza: these increasingly resemble a big concentration camp," said Cardinal Martino.

““....after saying nothing that 52% of American Catholics voted for a man who supports murdering the unborn.””

Which was the difference in this election.

I think I’ll take issue with the Cardinals choice of words.

“Hey Popey!!!! How many years of rocket attacks did the Jews attack the Germans with from Auschwitz?”

The statement didn’t come from the pope.

Not one comment on here about the cardinal’s words has addressed their truth or falsity. Just the usual “Israel can do no wrong...ever”, or ad hominem attacks.

I truly wonder if some of you will ever figure out why the Arabs hate us, and no, it isn’t because of we have a “democracy”, or because of religion, or the crusades, or our wealth.

So, ok. now you can call me an “anti-semite” or other names as you wish.

Somehow you think the crusades were a bad thing?

Could you explain?

They did that once before, the only Arab country that did, and it did not turn out very well.

Somebody has to speak for the rest of suffering humanity while the armies fight on, and we and others take sides and put on cheerleading costumes. Vatican has been good about it.

The Roman Catholic church does more good in a week than the rest of the religions combined do in a year. Get your eyes checked if you think otherwise.

Watch the anti-Catholic bigotry pal, got it?

Chill out. I would say that is a subjective comment, at best. Don’t let someone else get you so wound up that you start offending others of us.

Okay.

I’ll say it.

The Vatican is anti semitic.

There is not excuse for such metaphors.

What concentration camp launches 80 rockets a day into surrounding sovereign territory? These rockets injure and maim the alleged oppressors.

There is no comparable basis for this metaphor.

It sticks because of the great global glue called Anti Semitism.

Its okay to injure, maim, kill and genocide Jews.

When can we start launching liberation rockets into Vatican City?

Time for the RCs in Rome to mount a major missionary effort to convert the Gaza population to Christianity.

Hey, I'm all for that.

Undoubtely they have some brave young priests willing to do that ~

In Early California they traveled with the Spanish Army. Unfortunately the only Army willing to travel to Gaza is the Israeli Army. I don't think the Vatican Army is up to the job.

dear catholic bashers, and others who are smarter than the 2000 year old institution: "sources at the Vatican" do not necessarily represent the teachings of the Catholic Church.

As if a drop of medicine would calm a pack of wolves...

The Vatican is anti semitic.

Do you think the media can be trusted to report the truth about, say, Sarah Palin?

Why do you take what it says about the Vatican as if it's unquestionable truth?

Do you not see the glaring inconsistency in your cognizance? Doesn't it worry you?

I think most of us get that.

Everyone gets a little sensitive when:

a. they think their church is being attacked

b. they think a church is standing on the wrong side of an issue.

This was one guy who is 100% wrong. Hopefully, the Vatican will denounce his comments.
