Gaza Strip is a concentration camp, says Vatican
The Australian ^ | From correspondents in Rome

THE Gaza Strip has been turned into a "concentration camp" by two weeks of Israeli bombardments, said a senior Vatican official. Cardinal Renato Martino, the Vatican's justice and peace minister, was quoted by the online Italian daily Il Sussidiario. "Let's look at the conditions in Gaza: these increasingly resemble a big concentration camp," said Cardinal Martino.

My bad. My apologize to the HF.

It just burns me to see Christians siding with the slaves of satanallah. This "cardinal" needs a history lesson or two.

there is only one Holy Father specifically God the Father, Elohim. whom Jesus addressed as such at the Last Supper.
perhaps catholicism should consider appropriate use of a title of God.

“Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.” Matt 23:9

“Gaza Strip is a concentration camp, says Vatican”

It’s a do-it-yourself concentration camp. Hamas has created it and Hamas can take all the (blame) credit.

A “concentration camp” where the prisoners have weapons and missiles, waiting to attack the “guards” and the “guards families”.

Concentration camp victims do not have rockets and AK-47’s.

You haven’t paid much attention to how the press distorts statements made from the “Vatican” have you?

I’ll give you a hint - it’s pretty much how the press distorts everything else.

When the pope makes a statement they don’t like, we get an article about how his “hardline” views, and how he used to be a “nazi.”

When a liberal cardinal spouts off at the mouth, it makes the headlines as a statement from “the Vatican.”

Will this guy get disciplined?
Probably not - he’s entitled to his personal opinion, and there are innocent people in Gaza trapped there because of the stupidity of Hamas - and its disregard for innocents on both sides.

Will the pope now feel he will have to clarify his position?
My guess is that he will - but time will tell.

My guess is if the pope makes any comments favorable to Israel, it will not make the news anyway.

The Vatican is anti semitic.

An empty phrase like "homophobic". A PC term.

When can we start launching liberation rockets into Vatican City?

Who is this "we"?

I think the Catholic Church can get along quite alright without your own personal interpretation of scripture.

The Vatican officials say what they do because there are millions of hostages/dhimmi living in Muslim lands.

Good point. This is the same cardinal that was against the death penalty for Saddam Hussein, and said the U.S. has treated Saddam "like a cow" by "allowing" pictures of his dead body to be released.

I'm pretty sure this cardinal is also an observer to the U.N. (or at least he was). Guess what they've been talking about there this week.

The Cardinal made an outrageous statement.
I criticize this Cardinal, NOT the Church.

The church does a lot of good and is strong enough to withstand criticism of it. In the matter of Pelosi, Obama’s abortion stand and harboring illegals....those are mistakes and can be pointed out without being considered a “Catholic bigot.”

If you check my posts on the church, you will see that I am an ardent defender of her...even against Freepers who start the Catholic/protestant Freep battles.

Got it, Pal?

I would hope that Benedict continue to speak out.

I want the church to move from the influence a lot of liberal (ie leftist) clergy that continue to redefine Catholic doctrine as communism.

Hey - having grown up in one of the most liberal diocese on the planet - I can sympathize.

I think when JPII had to settle the issue of “Liberation Theology” - that should have settled the issue concerning communism.

I think right now what we have is a waiting game with the worst liberals now approaching age of retirement.

Yes, I believe the younger priests are much more conservative/traditional....not out to redefine the church.

What makes the news is irrelevant. What he actually does is relevant.

And I know exactly how it generally goes. I also know what this pope thinks about all sorts of subjects. And I know the pacifism and appeasement and lack of realism the vatican has shown in recent years on similar issues. He has been marginally better than par on the subject. Which matters.

Spokesmen for civilization should not defend barbarism. When they do, they undermine themselves, not civilization.

“What makes the news is irrelevant. What he actually does is relevant.”

The problem is that if he actually DOES something liberals are not supportive of - it doesn’t make the news.
And THEN - people don’t learn about it, so they get an incorrect impression of how it really is.

And then you have a whole lot of people who “think” they know is going on, as opposed to what really is going on.

” I also know what this pope thinks about all sorts of subjects. “

Very good. Me too.

” And I know the pacifism and appeasement and lack of realism the vatican has shown in recent years on similar issues.”

Then you must also know who the usual suspects are.
And I would add that the Vatican may not really consider itself to be in the business of realism.
Isn’t it more their job to point out ideals? The high mark that we try to reach for?

Afterall - it is not very realistic that we will all be “Christ-like” = but it is something we try to hold up as a standard.

But there are issues that leave me scratching my head - I try to think of a war that meets the criteria for “Just War”, and it seems most of them are missing something.
