WASHINGTON (CNN)Arizona Senator John McCain is adopting a major 2008 campaign slogan for a new political action committee designed to support not only his own planned re-election run in two years, but help him put his stamp on the rebuilding of the Republican Party.
The formation of the Country First PAC is to be announced Wednesday, two sources familiar with the plans tell CNN.
One of the sources called it the first official step of the GOP Senators re-election campaign. McCain made it clear not long after losing the presidential election that he intended to seek re-election to the Senate in 2010.
The second source said that in addition to supporting his own political ambitions, Country First would be a financial vehicle to help McCain help define the future of the GOP by recruiting candidates and driving the agenda.

Puke is an understatement. So I’ve been trying to figure out why McCain never has any competition here in AZ, the Time article was pretty revealing in that respect... and it makes sense the Chamber of Commerce would be for him, even without his son working there now, the Chambers in all the border states have been pro illegal immigration.
McLoser. The GOP is completely dead to me if Juan is their future. Sorry it had to be that way.
I am Arizonan. When Reagan ran in '80, I was one of the first putting together his state organization. John Rhodes was my neighbor. When he retired with cancer and John McCain ran for his seat I opposed McCain. I have opposed him since. I don't like him and he doesn't like me. I think that I was third or fourth on the McCain list and I made no bones about my opposition when I joined. What made me switch and support him? A lot of it was the outright lying about who McCain was. The kind of crap on that list. That is loony stuff.
The Republican Party is big. The regions and people in it have differences. They also have interests in common. So long as we can stitch together our common interests, anyone is welcome in the Party.
I will tell you one thing, though, there is no room for a George Wallace wing of the Republican Party. We have made a concerted effort to keep the Liberty Lobbies, The White Citizens Councils, the Birchers, the conspiracists away from any role in the Party. I will fight until I die to keep them out. If that is your wont, then go, go and find another party.
Immigration is a legitimate issue. It's not real high on my priority list but I have to give as well as take in hammering out the platform. One thing that I won't let it become is a racial, back to Africa type movement. Republicans led on Women's suffrage, Civil Rights for Blacks, and citizenship for Indians. If anyone thinks that that long tradition is going to be lost is dead wrong. It was a Republican who sent the 101st into Little Rock. Anyone who thinks that they can hide behind false notions of States Rights to use the power of government to deny Constitutional liberties to anyone is likely to meet them again.
1) McCain-Feingold - This campaign finance "reform" bill was nothing less than the single greatest attack on the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution since the Alien and Sedition Acts of the John Adams era.
2) His near-continuous hurculean efforts to obtain the greatest level of amnesty possible for illegal aliens.
Either one of these things disqualifies him to claim to be looking out for regular Americans. Taken together they are absolute proof that, whatever he is, he is NOT qualified to call himself a conservative - or a Republican either, based on my understanding of what THAT means.
What kind of Grand Canyon-sized FALSE accusation was that? You likening me to George Wallace is from the exact same playbook as Congressman John Lewis likening Sarah Palin to George Wallace because she accused Barack Obama of “palling around with terrorists!”
Your accusation is an over-reach of epic proportions on my statement “illegal amnesty nightmare.” That isn’t racial. That isn’t hateful. Illegal amnesty is a nightmare because it is ILLEGAL and UNLAWFUL. We have LAWS in this country to assist people who want to move here and become citizens. A Karl Rove political tactic to expand the Republican voting block by turning illegal actions legal overnight is not the answer.
Your racially-charged accusations are inaccurate and misrepresent my statement. As a fellow member of the Republican party, your tactics and lies disgust me.
~LOL~
Why should I support McCain and his PAC if he couldn’t even stand up for Palin?
^^^
Ditto!
LOL! Joe had a lame excuse. He drank and drove (so to speak). McCain just drove himself and the GOP off the cliff...because he could, DAMMIT.
FOLKS NOW IS THE TIME TO BECOME ACTIVE WITH THE LOCAL PARTIES.
McCAin is DEDICATED TO FORCING OUT CONSERVATIVES.
McCain is a spoiled brat child of the beltway.
Charlie Crist from fl is running for the senate, he is a super dooper rino. (enviro wacko, marriage, taxes, government intervention)
Uhhmmm, they already know!
Since McKneecapAndTradetm has tried twice to change to a "D", how could they not know?
Both times, when McC met with his masters (Heads of Dem party) they told him he still had work to do: he was needed to throw the election in 2008! He was obviously ordered to continue his sabotage of any Conservative rally... for example: when all the Conservs started pulling together during the Judges incident. That rally was so strong McInane had to mobilize other operatives: The Gang of 14.
(yes, I know it sounds tinhat. I invoke Occam's Razor! McC couldn't have done a better job even if I was absolutely correct and McCain has targeted the R-party for destruction and absorbsion!)
In view of this, I don't understand the point you're making. Why tell them something they already know?
Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
Not the military!
Well, not most of us, anyway...
I could tell you about the Airman (female) who wore Obie earrings (which she fashioned out of 2 campaign buttons). That broke regs 2 ways: earrings worn on duty must be simple post (ball or tiny stone) type and politic-ing in uniform -- let alone on duty is forbidden.
When I tracked down her CO, he told me that when he had mentioned it to her, doing so in a kindly fashion, (I know the guy - and if he says "kindly" you can believe it...) he got a "call" and an LOR: she accused him of racism! Oh, did I mention she's black?
I experienced 1st hand another incident... but I don't want to go into that incident, or the 6 others I got 2nd hand -- directly from the people who'd experienced them -- its simply too demoralizing to remind one's self that the rot has started even here. Every Serviceman should know better...
The thing to remember, though, is this: As a rule there are really only 2 groups of personnel where Liberals concentrate: the Medical Corps, and anything PR. When you pickup a copy of Army Times, and they glow about the Obamanation of Desolation, remember that they're run by Libs, and any polls, interviews, or non-straight-fact info (like the Base Pay, BHA, etc tables) has been massaged to propagandize and to convert the "greenies" to Liberalism.
But, please don't lump the bulk of us together w/the Libs! It hurts!
Nam Vet
I guess what I really meant is that they “own” - as in control - everything now. No offense intended! Having grown up an AF brat, I know you’re right.
Or "them first" since he has a tendency to reach across the aisle with great regularity.
He acts like an Alinskyite: misdirect, attack, demonize, use no facts, use emotion, because emotion cannot be refuted.
I tell you truly, during the election there were paid and unpaid (the so-called "true believer") operatives who were pretending to be conservatives but whose purpose was to sow dissention, chaos, confusion, and dissolution among the conservative base. Sort of like the "big name conservatives" who tell us in opinion pieces we need to become little-libs to win elections, but more like army ants or cockroches.
Remember all those "only McCain can win!" people? Those were all ways the ones excoriating "purists" and (read the next with a sneer) "ideological pure-et-tee". According to them, we needed to mix in alot of sh!t to make conservatism or the Repubs "better".
All I can say is, I can see why McYesterday appeals to Monk: I see a lot in his family's past, a lot of bravery inherited, but what's he done lately?
