Former Va. Rep. Davis to lead GOP centrist group [RINO herd]

Former Rep. Tom Davis (Va.) will lead the Republican Party's centrist Main Street Partnership, the organization announced Wednesday.

Davis, who represented a Northern Virginia district for seven terms, takes over a group self-billed as "the nation’s largest organization of elected centrists." As a member, he led the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and chaired the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

“The 2006 and 2008 election results make it clear that the Republican Party must — once again — reach out to independent and centrist voters if we are to restore our congressional majorities and return a Republican to the White House,” Davis said in a statement.

One good way to reach out to “Main Street” independents would be to stop voting for Wall Street bailouts.

a group self-billed as "the nation’s largest organization of elected centrists."

How convenient - a list of politicians I won't be voting for, all in once nice grouping ..... makes taking names & kicking butts (out of office) just so much easier.

The problem is that there are parts of the country where ONLY a RINO can get elected. Take Maine, for example. RINO, Mainstreet Partnership Senator Susan Collins just got reelected with 63% of the vote against a Democrat. Collins votes conservative only 36% of the time according to the American Conservative Union yet she won election by 58% for her first term and upped that to 61% for the next six years.

So Davis, and admitted RINO, was in charge of electing more Republicans in 2006 and 2008, FAILED, and now says we have to work ever harder at being Democrats?

Glad they have a group....more easily identifiable, they CAN BE THE THIRD PARTY.

This action, together with a whole HOST of symptoms indicates the GOP is incapable of learning from mistakes.

They need to GO!!!

We need a real conservative party to run against the liberal Dems, not a version of Democrat Light - which is the vision of the RINOs.

Was he?

He did a good job at the NRCC in 2000 and 2002 despite being a RINO.

The problem is that there are parts of the country where ONLY a RINO can get elected.

The problem is that this isn't true anymore. RINOs such as Shays and Chaffee LOST. New England's Congressional delegation is completely controlled by Rats. Did these parts of the country vote for McCain? Did PA, NY, NJ, etc turn red?

Take Maine, for example. RINO, Mainstreet Partnership Senator Susan Collins just got reelected with 63% of the vote against a Democrat. Collins votes conservative only 36% of the time according to the American Conservative Union yet she won election by 58% for her first term and upped that to 61% for the next six years.

Both Collins and Snowe are anomalies. They are dedicated public servants who have record of accomplishments without engaging in partisan politics. I would say that both of them are more like independents than RINOs. But like I said: I bet when Collins and Snowe retire, a Democrat is going to take their place.

Long way away from them days. Davis got the mindlessness and massive ego and sense of entitlement that serving in DC seems to cause. He told the VA GOP either they give him the Senate nomination in ‘08 - without an opponent from the right ! - or he’d take his pail and shovel and go home. You can see what that kind of arrogance does to us over time... just rewards the corrupt party rather than the stupid party.
