It had to happen, eventually. It was only a matter of how much damage is done by the time it’s over. Looks like the Rats did a relatively good job of damage control on this.

Personaly, I think that Fitzgerald blew the whistle early to keep Obama from being implicated by the tapes, and thought that Blago could be intimidated to resign without any trial.

This is not a race issue. Reid just didn’t want Blago’s stain on the Senate. I agree with his efforts if it could be done legally. If not, then he has to seat the governor’s appointee.

It’s pitiful how the media controls people’s thoughts with racism. Can’t this generation think for themselves without the “help” of Fox, CNN, etc.?

Geez, next we will hear how Durbin and Reid are BFFs with Burris all of a sudden. Anyone else notice how Reid and Alan ‘cadaver’ Colmes look alike?

The other parties and their attorneys are entitled to copies of the tapes, and are listening to them now. Fitzgerald made sure of that.

Service Workers International Union. I guess that it is called international because it was originally started to organize the illegals, working in service industries, such as hotels, landscaping, hospitals, nursing homes, day care centers. It’s the fastest growing union in the country. It was started in Chicago and has been corrupt ever since it’s conception.

Old Harry seems to have a knack for digging in his heels and taking a strong stand, then collapsing within 24 hours.

—He had to cave. He had no standing whatsoever and made a bigger fool of himself than I ever thought possible by saying he could stop it. Idiots, all.—

I disagree. Buriss’ supporters were relying on an old case involving a CONGRESSMAN (Adam Clayton Powell), not a Senator, and with a very different fact pattern. The ‘rat leadership (and Obama) were all behind keeping Burris out, as well he should be kept out, considering the scoundrel—and unconvicted criminal—who appointed him in the first place. Reid et al. could easily have waited at least until this case went to federal court, and, by then, Blago would have been out of office, and Pat Quinn could have appointed another dem, or maybe reappointed Burris, and it would all be “kosher.” This is good for us conservatives, true, as the liberal dems who control the Senate majority are revealed as the p*ssy-whips they, in fact, are. It’s a bad day for representative government and the rule of law though. I guess you could say it’s a wash.

That's fine but I stand by my statement. Reid, Durbin and Obama are caving because they know there is nothing legally they can do to prevent it. Obama resigned his seat and it is the sitting Governor's responsibility to appoint a representative for Illinois. There was nothing Reid could have waited for. Obama could have waited to resign, but he just couldn't help himself, I guess. The only person who could have waited was Blago and, like it or not, he didn't. Them's the rules.

Even IF that’s true, there was no harm in letting it go to the SCOTUS. Worst case scenario would be SCOTUS ordering the Senate to let Burris take his seat. Even if the ‘rat leadership lost, they’d at least look valiant (by political standards) in fighting to the very end. Appearance is the mother’s milk of politics. And it is technically true that the sitting governor (absolute scoundrel that he is) would, ordinarily, have a responsibility to fill the vacant seat, BUT, he is so tainted by criminality (calling it “scandal” is just being PC) that anyone he picks, no matter how saintly that person may be, won’t be taken seriously as a legislature. That is the upside for conservatism, since Burris will be a political “dead man walking”, even Alan Keyes will be able to vanquish him in 2012. Never thought that day would come! It’s just too bad for the Senate that they are stuck with the fruit of the poison tree in their midst for the next 4 years.

Should read: "won’t be taken seriously as a legislator."

I love emailing Harry Reid and telling him what a sleaze he is, and how traitorous his actions.

I get letters that aren’t rubber stamped but the messages are always convoluted clap-trap.

“The other parties and their attorneys are entitled to copies of the tapes, and are listening to them now. Fitzgerald made sure of that.”

If I was on a tape talking to Blago, I’d sure want a copy. May I ask where you heard or read that Fitzgerald had made those tapes available to all parties and their attorneys? I’m not doubting you, just wonder if you recall.
