Gah, unless you’re skiing that’s a miserable amount of snow.

Here’s how that works.

Global warming causes water to evaporate.
Water rises to the sky, blocks out the sun causing temperatures to drop. The excess moisture falls as snow hence, global warming causes massive snow storms.

At least that’s how some AGW koolade gulpers say it works.

Eastern Washington (Spokane) is the conservative area of the state.

Western Washington, where the liberals are, had its share of snow prior to Christmas, but it has mostly gone away now.

Hey!! Watch who you’re calling Liberal over here Pal! There is still a lot of Red over here in Clark County...

yah, we went through our own 2 weeks of frozen hell over here that the entire area was ill-equipped to deal with. Lots of localities are reviewing their snow removal plans and equipment and updating the ways they can deal with record snowfalls, instead of just allowing it to melt naturally. Over Christmas we got record breaking snowfall all over the area, and now since we’re back to rain, we are looking at massive flooding from mountain snowmelt.

We still have enormous icebergs in all of the parking lots around town. Lots of guys with snowplows on their 4x4’s were out making a bunch of money pushing snow for business owners.

All kidding aside, that does sound like quite a lot of snow for that area (I've only been there once about 20 years ago or so). Hope it doesn't cause too much damage when it melts.

Even other places that are used to lots of snow got quite a load in December. I was talking with my brother in Colorado and he had mentioned that Silverton (a town high up in the San Juan mountains) got 196 inches in December alone, and my sister told me that they got 83 of those inches in one storm. Even when you are used to lots of snow and prepare for it, that's an overwhelming amount. I can only imagine what headaches it must have caused in the Spokane area where they aren't used to that much.

With all due respect — the snow in those (Valdez) photos are nothing near what we have in Spokane - at least yesterday.

I have had over six feet fall in my area north of town.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it snows up north in the winter. Call Algorebot to melt it slowly so floods don't occur.

Here is a real trooper when it come to weather. Keep in mind that the tornado is about two miles away (before they RAN away!). This is a big'un.

Did I mention that we dipped below freezing one night?

If you go to the photo gallery on at that link and scroll down to Year 2006 and click on the photos from Hastings and Kearney, you will see pictures of what I was out in the middle of from around 11:00 pm of the night it began till almost 48 hours later. I work for a cell phone company and we had a combination of power outages and generator failures. You can still see evidence of the ice damage in the tree lines as you drive around.

Then, I got to outrun the next storm coming in so I could make it to Phoenix before my dad passed away. Needless to say, anytime we have a weather pattern that goes from rain, to freezing rain I start to get a bit of a nauseous feeling. When it's all done, and the sun comes out, it truly is beautiful, but the damage it does is astounding.

Could be - we lived in Spokance (Fsirchild AFB) for a few years, nice area. Valdez gets about 134 feet year.

But then it’s pretty wet in the summer as well.
