The appointment isn't corrupt simply because the one doing the appointing might be corrupt. That is absurd. No one has been found guilty of anything. As sitting governor of IL , Blago can legally appoint anyone he chooses.
The appointment isn't corrupt simply because the one doing the appointing might be corrupt. There is convincing evidence that the seat was up for sale. The Senate doesn't know for sure that Burris didn't pay for his seat. I think that makes Burris' appointment, or any Blago appointment, questionable. At the very least an investigation into Burris/Blago is in order to make sure the seat wasn't sold.
