Those ‘smaller projects’ are components of the TTC. They did this to us in NJ. Don’t get fooled Texans.

Georgia DOT planned an expressway from downtown Atlanta to Stone Mountain and actually started condemning and razing properties in the Highland Avenue area. Legal challenges delayed the route for a while and the cleared area grew over with kudzu. When the Olympics came to Atlanta there was this messy vacant lot area that needed cleaning up so they turned it into a linear park with The Martin Luther King Jr. monument at one end and the Jimmy Carter Center at the other end. They tried to resurrect the expressway to tie the Carter Center out to Stone Mountain by saying it would be a parkway restricted to 35 mph. Locals dubbed it the Ex-Prez way and eventually stopped that with a ruing from the GA Supreme Court. As the years go by, one wonders how long it will be before the powers that be try again.

I hope the TTC never gets built. We just have to keep watch on the crooks in Austin.
