The Intel big-wigs
know that after the Rapture
the United States
will lose its best souls,
so they're gearing up in lands
where non-Christians work . . .

Ms. Rand, you were right.

All the most important work still takes place in the US and Israel. Their latest fab and nearly all their R&D semiconductor labs are in the continental US.

Yes it has - it has freed up capital to invest in more expensive engineers, R&D, and top-line fabs here in the US.

Outsourcing has done for our economy what alcohol has done for the liver : it made everything look bright and profitable for a while, but eventually it kills the economy / body.
We saved some money by hiring slaves in the third world, and that made for some cheap Chinese goods. Unfortunately, the "overpaid" American workers stopped being able to afford their bills / mortgages / credit cards. Our GDP is 70 percent consumer spending. Take their factory jobs and have them working two cashier jobs to replace one good paying job, and people start spending a whole lot less. People stop spending, default on loans, home sales plummet, the stock market's spooked, and banks collapse or stop lending. The skyrocketing cost of imported fuel was the straw that broke the camel's back.
So what do we have now? We have the continued outsourcing of our manufacturing sector, the refusal to produce fuel at home, and a government that thinks it can print our way out of this mess.
Cheap stuff didn't end up being cheap in the long run.

To qualify for one of these positions, you must possess a BS, MS or PhD degree in a related engineering discipline and have graduated from college in the last 18 months. Hm. A bit of potential for age discrimination there?

From the ad, this looks like an attempt to lure Vietnamese-American grads a chance to go back to their Motherland. I'd be surprised if there were many takers. Notice the One Way ticket.....
The Vietnamese I work with are smart and work hard. Ideal employees I would say. And they mostly vote conservative Republican. I think they, along with the Cubans, are the most conservative ethnic groups in the U.S.

I wouldn't want to go there.
It's too scary.

Ad>>>Candidates hired for these positions will receive Intel Vietnams compensation and benefits package as a local hire.
A definite attempt to take down Americans on salary. The “compensation and benefits package AS A LOCAL HIRE” means take US labor rates and divide by (at least) 10.
Try paying off your college loans with that.

The US was founded on trade and outsourcing and cheap labor - using the lowest cost means to produce what we have. Care to argue that simple fact?
Your complaints fly exactly 180 degrees from the economic principles that created and grew this nation. Protectionism is what your approach leads to, and is anathema to any good conservative.

Sure. The founding fathers enacted tariffs, and gave the federal government the power to regulate international trade.
In modern times, free trade has failed miserably, because we force our corporations to act responsible through law. Therefore, they cannot compete with the slave labor you and your globalist pals prefer.
The result? A collapsed economy and socialism / fascism being proposed as a solution.
Free trade doesn't work unless everyone is playing by the same rules.
Your complaints fly exactly 180 degrees from the economic principles that created and grew this nation.
BS. Outsourcing jobs has ruined the country. We'll be lucky if socialism / fascism is all we have to endure. It's within the realm of possibility that our currency will collapse. And all the slave labor in the world won't fix that. May your own grandchildren not have to work under the labor conditions that you seem to prefer as "efficient and low cost."

is it just me, or do I feel that high tech is rampant with age discrimination ( AKA Ageism ) ?
Age discrimination is supposed to be illegal but is most difficult to catch and enforce.
Which means that ON AVERAGE those in high tech (like sports stars) have a certain "useful productive life" ( for want of a better word ). After that, it's downhill from there. I'd say the "useful productive life" is about 30 years, after which, you'll have a tough time competing with someone 20 years younger with similar talent.
