It's all but over now.
Linebacker Stevenson Sylvester recovered a fumble for the Utah Utes with 5:13 remaining against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl on Friday night, all but assuring an eighth straight bowl victory for the Utes - and a second straight in a prestigious Bowl Championship Series meeting with one of the legendary programs in college football history.
The Utes have sacked quarterback John Parker Wilson seven times at the Louisiana Superdome, forced two turnovers, and held the Crimson Tide to 226 yards of offense.

Yeah.......Utah!
UFF DA!!!
Good game, Utes!!!
Die hard Ute fan here hosting the college football live thread. I can’t believe it....after going half a century without a conference title (until ‘03), and losing to The Team Down South throughout the 80s and early 90s, this was worth it.
Cant wait for next year already, GO UTES!!
Ute ping. No I didn’t go there, but all my friends did.
What a great shocker of a win for UTAH. They really had the TIDES number and played a fantastic game. A 13-0 team will not be the #1 BCS team because of the messed up nature of the BCS. A play off is needed. Barry Switzer looks like schmuck.
After the defeat Alabama claimed its 54th National Championship.
So, undefeated Utah will not be the national champion.
I guess losses really don’t mean much in college football.
Love the smirk on Switzer’s face after he had to eat his words.
Outstanding coaching by the Utah staff. Their kids were ready to play.
Eleven sacks!! Gotta love it! It’s great to have a big front line but if the other team has players who can run around your big front line, its not that big a deal. From this BYU fan: Way to go Utes!!
Great game! Hats off to the state of Utah for an amazing performance. I missed the Boise State defeat of Oklahoma a couple years ago and so glad I saw this one. Nothing is better than watching one of the premier teams beat in a bowl game by the underdog.
Should have made the entire defensive line the most valuable. Although the quarterback was terrific.
Pretty well proves the value of BCS rankings, eh?
My favorite part of the game was listening to the announcers backpedal. Idiots. Then, they started blaming Alabama’s loss on excuses. Idiots.
Undefeated 2008 Utes. Best college team ever. Go Utes!
WHAT YOU SAID!!!!
Breaking News:
I just got a phone call from my uncle.
I’m guessing that Mormon kids riding bikes around won’t be welcome in Alabama trailer parks for, say, the next 50 years or so.
Dear Utes:
Thanks much for bringing some serious respect to the rising Mountain West Conference.

Why, the Ute’s beat the Tide, not BYU?
We all are Utes tonight. Way to go Utah!
