The U.S. Senate's sergeant at arms says he doesn't expect trouble if Roland Burris shows up.

And what happens if there is some? Arrest the leader? Please?

Address him as Senator since he has a letter???

so, should the “Office of the Senator in waiting” contact the “Office of the President-Elect” for pointers on how to handle the pressure and rigors of this new office..ROFL

Too bad Blago did not appoint himself. That would have been much more interesting.

1) Not that I give a rat’s patootie in this particular case, but since Blago hasn’t for the moment reached whatever low bar they have in IL for staying in office, doesn’t whatever he does still count? And since when can the Senate approve or disapprove of whomever a state sends as part of their delegation?

2)Why do the Senate democrats NOT want this guy sworn in as a (D) ASAP, since their margin is not yet filibuster-proof? Is he honest or something?

Burris could actually sue the Senate and win. I’m sure we’ll hear more about that next week.

What's wrong with this picture: a qualified, trailblazing Afro-American is denied a Senate seat by Democrats. But an unqualified Caucasian with poor speaking skills (Caroline Kennedy) is extolled by Democrats as frontrunner for another Senate seat.

Roland Burris and Rep. Bobby Rush (speaking)
at a Chicago news conference announcing
Gov. Rod Blagojevich's appointment of
Burris to the U.S. Senate Dec. 30, 2008.
CBS

From David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
PROFILE: BOBBY RUSH:

* Democratic Member of Congress

* Member of the radical Progressive Caucus

* In 1968, went AWOL from the U.S. Army

* Co-founder of the Illinois branch of the Black Panther Party

* In 1969, served six months in jail for an illegal weapons conviction

* Advocates reparations for African Americans

"Bobby Rush has described his involvement with the Black Panthers as part of his maturation process, as a youthful indiscretion that he abandoned immediately after Hampton's death. He described his role mostly as running the Black Panther Party's Free Breakfast for Children program.

But Bobby Rush served six months in jail for a 1969 illegal weapons conviction and, even after his release, in 1971 his comrades were still describing him as the 'Deputy Minister of Defense' for the Black Panther Party in Illinois. In 1992 the socialist magazine In These Times praised fledgling congressional candidate Rush, writing that he 'has continued to support progressive policies and has never disavowed his Panther past...."

[1960s/original] Black Panther Party [BPP] Archives
From the article: REVOLUTIONARY HEROES

"On May 1st, May Day [1969], the day of the gigantic Free Huey rally, two of Alioto's top executioners vamped on the brothers from the Brown Community who were attending to their own affairs. These brothers, who are endowed with the revolutionary spirit of the Black Panther Party defended themselves from the racist pig gestapo.

Pig Joseph Brodnik received his just reward with a big hole in the chest. Pig Paul McGoran got his in the mouth which was not quite enough to off him.

The revolutionary brothers escaped the huge swarm of pigs with dogs, mace, tanks and helicopters, proving once again that "the spirit of the people is greater than the man's technology."

To these brothers the revolutionary people of racist America want to say, by your revolutionary deed you are heroes, and that you are always welcome to our camp."

Reid, Durbin, and the rest of the white Democrats need to be portrayed as modern day George Wallaces standing in the way of the only black Senator to be seated.

If the GOP leaders were smart(DUHHH!) they could have a political field day with this one.

If anyone finds some testicles for the GOP Senators, please send them to Mitch McConnell.

The Illinois ‘Rats have only themselves to blame. They could have called for a special election for the Senate seat but didn’t, out of fear of the seat going to a Repub. Now we get to watch the entertainment...

So, if they can’t block him legally, they’re gonna bully him out of the Senate?

Top Senate Democrats still say they intend to block Burris' appointment. . .

Who knew the democrats could be this much fun?

If Burris is blockaded, perhaps he'll organize a sit in.

I can hear them singing "We Shall Overcome", arms interlocked.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY?

Guess to DemoRats, that principal applies only as long as it suits their purpose.

Lt. Gov Quin has been quoted as saying (paraphrase) "Blago is going to be impeached and he WILL BE FOUND GUILTY"!

I think its time to stock up on copious amounts of adult beverages and sundry other snacks as this is about to get good.

GO BLAGO, GIVE THE RATS HELL!!!

Let’s see...

Democrat Senators (and prospectives)under cloud of suspicion regarding their ‘election’ or appointment

Lautenberg - New Jersey
That widow from Missouri - not sure she is still there...
Burris
Caroline Kennedy
Al Franken

The Democratic Party is a borderline criminal enterprise...

They have totally mucked up our election process for their gain - to hell with America and free, fair elections...

Power at all costs...

AlGore tried to steal the 2000 Presidential election
John Kerry tried in 2004
Al Franken is in the process of stealing an election.

Wasnt there one in Washington State a few years back??

The consent of the governed is being sorely tried by all of this...
