Ineligible Obama, Playing with Constitutional Fire
Right Side News ^ | January 2, 2009 | JB Williams

Posted on 01/02/2009 10:37:08 AM PST by PlainOleAmerican

Numerous legal challenges have been filed in an effort to force president-elect Barack Obama to validate his constitutional eligibility for the office he seeks and while it is true that suit after suit has been denied in the courts, it is also true that all of them have been denied on a technicality rather than on the merits of the case against Obama.

And although Obama could have ended the debate months ago by simply delivering a $10.00 certified copy of his official birth records to prove his constitutional edibility, he has instead chosen to spend nearly a million bucks in legal defense fees hoping to run out the clock and assume office before any of the legal challenges will be heard by the courts.

A few things are quite clear at this point

* Article II - Section I of the Constitution clearly limits those who can serve as Commander-in-Chief to "natural born citizens" of the United States, and for good reason

* The Hawaii certificate posted on Obama's web-site is insufficient and in question at best

* Obama's Kenyan relatives state that they attended his birth in Kenya

* Later, Obama was indeed a legal citizen of Indonesia, traveling under his Indonesian passport as recent as in his early twenties

* There is no known record of Obama changing his Indonesian citizenship back to American citizenship, and it wouldn't make him a "natural born citizen" even if he did

* None of this seems to matter to anyone of consequence...

On this basis, we are headed towards not one, but numerous constitutional crises.

How will an unconstitutional president rule?

To look the other way on a blatant assault on something so clearly stated and universally interpreted as “natural born citizen” is to make insignificant all that we stand for as a nation.

Oh please. Do you ascribe the same noble qualities to the rule of law? Our system of justice? No man is above the law? Of course you do.

My point is, as recently as ten years ago, a sitting president shredded the constitution right in front of the entire nation...on TV...and then thumbed his nose at us. And nothing happened!!! Where Obama was born pales in comparison to what has already happened and your argument that he be forced to prove he is a "natural born citizen" is the club they're going to beat you with for the next four years. You can cling to your argument like it's the most noble thing since Patrick Henry, but you're going to lose this one and a lot more because you'll be rendered impotent.

This ain't going anywhere but into the "conspiracy theory" dustbin in history.

You haven’t been here long enough to have credulity, n00b. If you don’t like Freepers working on this issue, get your smarmy obamanoid ass back to the liberal septic tanks.

The constitution either means something to you or it doesn’t. Thanks for being so open about your position.

The fact is that the only possible result of even a partially successful legal challenge to his eligibility is riots, and political and economic destabilization (the latter inevitably leading to more popular support for socialist programs).

Don't kid yourself. There's a whole lot of keyboard-commandos on this forum cheerleading for civil war.

Look at it this way - suppose 0bama was born in Kenya, for instance, or actually isn’t a natural born citizen, or even a citizen at all.

Don’t you think it would be worth while to at least find out?

Saying that the cases are “before the Supreme Court” is disingenuous and misleading, as it implies that they are being given serious consideration. In reality, they and hundreds upon hundreds of others are simply requests for a hearing, the overwhelmingly vast majority of which are rejected out of hand. A handful of drops in a vast sea.

This is the epitome of fringe.

Do you honestly believe the average American citizen or politician give a shit about what the constitution has to say? If so you have been living on a different planet than I have for over 30 years.

Come up with something more original than ad hominems, please? Thanks.

There of plenty of long-standing users who think you and the other conspiracy spinners are ridiculous as well. Trying to frame the FR opposition as just a bunch of new users is quite a whopper of a lie, I’m afraid.

Added him. Got 21 now IIRC.

One thing conservatives and Repubs (well, Repubs need to become conservatives, first!) need to do is quit worrying about what NON-conservatives think of them! This slinging around tinfoil, wingnut, kook etc - it’s merely to scare conservatives into silence!

Leftists, liberals, Dems, marxists, and RINOs will never “like” conservatives anyway.

I don’t want them to LIKE conservatives - that means we’re doing something wrong! I want them to FEAR conservatives!!!!

debating his eligibility in 2009 is a big waste of time
***From the FRONT PAGE of FR, the FOUNDER of FR, on the FIRST SENTENCE of his statement:
Statement by FR’s Founder:
In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution

Why do you bother logging onto a constitutionalist website if you’re just a defeatist French Troll?

What utter bullsh*t! Clinton was impeached. Or didn’t that register in your cowards lair? It is apaprent that perjury on application to the Bar, posting exploiting a forged COLB to gain hundreds of millions in camapign funds, and falsifying Selective Service document mean nothing to a coward like you. Why bother ridiculing those who oppose such criminality?... It won’t remove your cowardly image.

If we make this case and ‘lose’, i.e. a legitimate BC is provided, we will glady say “Thanks. Was that so difficult?” and move on. We don’t NEED this issue to result in a particular outcome. We just want the Constitution upheld. Nothing more, nothing less. Obama and his ilk, on the other hand, DO need a particular outcome. Therefore, they have a lot more to lose than we do. Thus, the all-out battle to fight it.
When you ask if we’re “willing to die on this hill”, or “blow our wad here”, you miss the point completely. If we are fighting for what is unequivocally right, then we must be willing to die on EVERY hill! What you also don’t seem to grasp is that spending time on this issue does NOT, in any way, take away the ability of FReepers to fight on other fronts as well. It’s not like this subject is the only one in the forum right now.

If you don't see that the Birth Certificate issue is core to opposing Obama's leftist and unconstitutional policies, then may I suggest Visine

Your whole construct presumes a defeatist mentality and a willingness to let the LeftMedia dictate the terms of the argument.

You misunderstand. My whole construct is not defeatist. If so, I'd be on your side. The media will dictate the terms of the argument and you're going to feed them the ammo to do so if you continue to force an issue they so easily will use to paint you as a crackpot.

That was the defense used for Clinton and it worked quite well. While we were rooting around trying to prove Clinton was engaged in a fraudulent land deal, his administration shredded the rule of law.

My whole construct is that if we allow our arguments to be so easily defeated as "crackpottery" (and this one is a godsend for them) then it's going to be a very long 4 years.

It has nothing to do with being for or against the Constitution, as your claims have no grounding in reality to begin with. Being opposed to ridiculous Truthers like you or the ones that think 9/11 was a vast government conspiracy (as much as you hate to hear it, you and they are remarkably similar) does not mean that we oppose the Constitution.

Clinton was impeached, settled his lawsuit with Paula Jones for $850,000, lost his Arkansas law license for five years, and was disbarred from the Supreme Court.

Glad you brought that up, fringe-boy. Since 3 of these cases have been forwarded for conference, it pulls this issue into a rarified atmosphere. Our own resident constituional scholar, congressman Billybob, says that chances of one case getting forwarded are 1/200. So the chances of 3 of them getting forwarded for conference is 1/8Million.

Using your own logic of “overwhelmingly vast majority” type of numbers, your argument is completely shot down. So your choices now from this point onward are pretty stark, if you are an honorable FReeper. But since you’re probably just a troll, you’ll continue to overlook the arguments and facts and keep pushing that zer0bama line.
