A 14-year-old who was trained to kill by radicals in the tribal regions of Pakistan now sits in a crowded classroom at a detention facility in Kabul. His only wish is to see his parents again.
Shakirullah, 14, is convicted of planning to carry out a suicide bombing in Afghanistan.
1 of 3 "I miss my parents, my mom and dad," Shakirullah says in soft tones. Like others in tribal regions, he goes by one name.
Shakirullah is already a convicted terrorist for planning to carry out a suicide bombing. He says Muslim radicals lied and tricked him into becoming a would-be bomber. "I have been detained for trying to commit a suicide attack," he says.
He says his recruiters told him it was his mission as a Muslim to kill British and American soldiers because they were killing Muslims. Watch teen say recruiters "cheated me" »
They told him that once he blew himself up he wouldn't die because God would save him for being a true Muslim.

So if we caught the 9/11 plotters before they carried out their plans, execution would have been wrong in your eyes?
We execute murderers, not people who are planning to and we don’t execute 14yr olds - Iran does - maybe you’d like to emulate the Iranian regime, I don’t believe in executing children
Correct. Life in prison would be appropriate
And they weren’t 14yrs old
Yeah, life in prison really sends a message to plotters everywhere/sarc
If one is old enough to knowingly kill, one is old enough to face the consequences.
Period.
“Shakirullah”?? Sounds like a rapper-thug name to me.
The culture is more to blame than this kid. Same with kids who are brought up in a cult.
Glad he didn’t kill anybody.
But the real blame goes to the parents and the religious leaders teaching this crap.
“Yeah, life in prison really sends a message to plotters everywhere/sarc”
What a ridiculous statement. The suicide bombers are going to be killed themselves if they’re successful. You think any kind of punishment - jail or execution - is a deterrrent? The life in prison sentence is punishment, not a deterrent.
“If one is old enough to knowingly kill, one is old enough to face the consequences”
You’re ridiculous. We don’t execute 14yrs olds.
Period
> convicted terrorist ...
Then whay is he still breathing air?
Shouldn’t he be worm food by now?
We better define “Children”.
Those children are being taught to kill you or convert you. Nothing else will suffice. I would have no problem capping his hide if he is playing big boy games.
No they do not. In their minds, it is not wrong for terriorist to kill. They are fighting for what they believe in, Muhammed, their god. I know it is wrong, you know it’s wrong, but they do believe their way is the right way. Just like we would fight for what we believe in and our way of life, freedom, etc. what we have been TAUGHT. I believe in the death penality, but others do not. It is all in how you are raised and what was taught to you as a child. Some rights and wrongs to me are different from rights and wrongs to you. They were taught a different set of rights and wrongs.
And I am sure he has now seen the error of his ways.
“Like others in tribal regions, he goes by one name.”
That one name would be “Terrorist”.
Would love to hear your thoughts if this lovely 14 yo blew up your family.
My guess is they would change fast.
14 is just a number, as is 18. Who decided on that? Why is it of such significance to you?
Again, if they can think through the act, they deserve the harshest punishment available.
When one has cancer, they get it cut out.
The surgeon doesn’t ask “how old is it”.
Great analogy!
Near Valley Forge....Nice to see you.
If one does not know that killing innocent people is wrong, they are a spychopath, I don’t care if they believe they are doing it for allah or not. They are still psychopathic.
Sometimes analogies make one see it clearer. Unfortunately, the person on this thread sounds like they are unwilling to see, for whateverreason that may be.
PS. About 40 minutes north.
