I can’t help to think that the reason why Poles are being chosen for separate treatment is that the bureaucrats in charge are being pressed into “doing something”, and singling out elderly Polish women is easy and low-risk. Gives them something to write down on their reports, and no follow up is needed, and if someone else more nefarious sneaks through in the mean time, they’re covering themselves as to what they were doing.

Same reason why octogenarian WWII vets get special security treatment at the nation’s airports by the clerks “looking for” terrorists.
