I read that book. It’s mildly interesting, but never lived up to its hype.

Fox's study shows violent crime in the black community has gone up in the last decade -- not down.

But it doesn't say violent crime in the black community might have gone up even more were it not for abortion.

actually, I didn’t think that anybody serious even though enough of that stupid abortion-crime link to even bother disproving it.

It was ridiculously thinly sourced and plausible only the truly scientifically illerate.

Wait. Hold it a sec. This report is peppered with holes and full of cherry picked data.

The bottom line is that the study just points out the obvious, that most abortions are of the underclass, the people with the highest crime rate. Abortions among the middle and upper classes are also of women who have personal problems so great that they are willing to kill their own children.

If you kill children likely to become criminals, it should drive down the rate of crime. But the question that should be asked, is it right to kill infants because they are more likely to commit crimes?

This gets troublesome in a hurry, because a lot of people so hate criminals that they would have no problem killing everyone in prison. They would be in favor of abortion for the sole reason that it was killing potential criminals.

As to the racist element, the crime rate among blacks is nonsensically high. So much so that anything that would kill blacks will drive down their crime rate. This is horribly screwed up in its own right.

This being said, the Levitt report really does not advance the cause of abortion, except among those already persuaded about eugenics with a deeply racist element.

But to those opposed to abortion, they should embrace this report, because it shows that many people have a willingness to wipe out an entire class of people with abortion, and any excuse will do.
