You think the founding fathers would have thought that the right to travel the highways was a privilege and not a right? So since it is a privilege, should they also be able to stop and search and fingerprint you for no reason?
Government always foists the “privilege” claim.
Yet there were large numbers of people who drove primitive autos well before “drivers license” laws were instituted.
Why wasn’t it a “privilege” when the very first person drove a car?
Answer: it wasn’t.
This whole thing has to do with civil vs, criminal law, and all I can do is highly recommend that anybody with a license and insurance follow all applicable regulations.
