Alcohol makes you feel warm and turn beet red because it causes your blood vessels to dilate, hence a larger surface area to cool the blood.............

When I was a child sick with the flu my dad would sneak a little whiskey in a shot glass to me late at night. Seemed to work as I would wake up in a great sweat in the morning. Fever gone.
