Is Israel Using ‘Disproportionate Force’

Moving beyond the question of international law, the charge that Israel is using a disproportionate amount of force in the Gaza Strip because of reports of Palestinian casualties has to be looked at critically. Israelis have often said among themselves over the last seven years that when a Hamas rocket makes a direct strike on a crowded school, killing many children, then Israel will finally act.

This scenario raises the question of whether the doctrine of proportionality requires that Israel wait for this horror to occur, or whether Israel could act on the basis of the destructive capability of the arsenal Hamas already possesses, the hostile declarations of intent of its leaders, and its readiness to use its rocket forces already. Alan Dershowitz noted two years ago: "Proportion must be defined by reference to the threat proposed by an enemy and not by the harm it has produced." Waiting for a Hamas rocket to fall on an Israeli school, he rightly notes, would put Israel in the position of allowing "its enemies to play Russian Roulette with its children."13

Is Israel Using ‘Disproportionate Force’

That's how you WIN, you use everything you've got to destroy the enemy.

The three rules of warfare

1. Never humanize your enemy

2. Kill your enemy until he stops killing you

3. There are no rules in war.

Israel did not start the fight, but it will damn well stop the fight the only way possible. No mercy.

“Proportionate” responses in warfare are immoral. They increase misery of everyone by lengthening the war.

the argument of excessive force went out the window when the big complaint from the left in Iraq was we didn't use enough force , they argued America should have used overwhelming force to protect our troops,oh how quickly they forget

Apparently not.
We’ll know how much is appropriate when the Hamas rockets and artillery stop.

Disproportionate force... heh, I like fishing with depth charges, easier and I LOVE the big 'asplosions."

Israel should hit Damascus next then when the world is whining, go for the Persian nukes, let God do the rest vs Magog,Togarmah, Ethiopia, Libya, Gomer( Ez 38,39). Doom on all of them

....besides ‘a disproportionate response is the way to win this thing. Do not back down, no time lines, no truces, just keep advancing until they’re gone. Tarawa, Saipan, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa ...time lines? dsiproportionate force? Hiroshima?...Nagasaki...made EVERYONE realize, the war and killing was DONE. No more holocausts, just kill until there is unconditional surrender. Then send them to hard labor in Iceland planting a rain Forest for Gores Climate change.
