Some years ago I made a trip to Fishlake National Forest in Utah on my motorcycle. I used to enjoy solo getaways. One afternoon while I was wandering around, a Ford Bronco approached and a Park Ranger got out. After exchanging some small talk, he asked if I was armed. I showed him my Ruger Super Blackhawk. He said that was good, because it's not safe out here after dark. I told him I had a room at the Fish Lake Lodge and thanked him for his concern. He repeated that he was happy to see that I came prepared.

Google Fishlake National Forest if you are looking for a great unknown vacation spot. If you like rustic splendor.

This might not be a bad thing. First most likely outcome; they spend a lot of money suing Uncle Sam and lose. Second possible outcome; they spend a lot of money suing Uncle Sam and lose and the requirement to have a CCW is found unConstitutional in the process.

That would have been a Forest Ranger not a Park Ranger. Firearms have never been prohibited in National Forests except in specific locations like campgrounds in specific Forest districts.

What I'm really curious about from your post is what danger the Ranger was cautioning you about. Two legged or four legged?

I’m really getting sick of these morons. I will keep and bear arms. I am guaranteed the right to do so by our constitution. If they have a problem with that, they would be well advised to do the same.

Is your concealed carry firearm capable of dealing with a grizzly?
It can blind a grizzly. That should be good enough.

With an adult population of about 17 million, out of 24 million total, 260,000 of whom are CHL holders I calculate that just over 1.5% of adult Texans are CHL holders.

This 1.5% of the adult population is convicted of only .2275% of the crimes. This means that an adult who does not hold a CHL is 6.67 times more likely to commit a crime than an adult with a CHL.

I hope cops are real careful when they come up on a traffic stop and discover that the person they pulled over doesn’t have his CHL.

Brady, VPC, and their satellite entities like the Orwellian double-speak "Gun Guys", all need to be charged with conspiracy to defraud, conspiracy to deprive civil rights, and contempt charges.

Not sure you could make it stick, but possible accessory to rape, murder, and theft charges as well due to their pushing victim disarmament laws that make it easier for criminals to create mayhem.

Failing that, every Brady Brat should be hunted down and have some form of violence perpetrated against them. Enough is enough... (El Neil)These people would rather see a woman raped and strangled with her own pantyhose than see her having to explain to the police how her attacker got a fatal bullet wound (/L. Neil Smith) They want to use the FORCE of police power to disarm us and make us helpless. This is a blatant, even deadly, ATTACK on us as individuals and free men.

No more pussy-footing around.

Why? They want ARMED government agents to forcibly remove our Right to Defense. They started this. They've won too many battles because we "play nice".

You wanna dance around and try to make a broken system work? Or do you want solutions that will actually get things done? Do you think the Founding Fathers worried about what the Crown's Agents would think of them? They talked OPENLY of rebellion, treason, murder, and war.

And here we cower over a half-assed statement of ill will towards our mortal enemies.

ANY place that does not allow the carry of legal arms is to be avoided.

If you were a crazed gun-toting person intent on killing as many as possible, where would you prefer to go? A place where all are unarmed like shopping centers and schools, and now parks, of course.

Dangerous for your health.

Maybe. They have good noses and ears. They can also run a lot faster than humans. I prefer to completely avoid the encounter.

Here are some statistics for conviction rates for Texas CHL license holders:

I'd like to see a similar chart for sworn law enforcement officers. I would bet a thousand dollars they commit more crimes than CHL holders, per capita.

I even recall reading somewhere that police officers are more likely to commit a crime than the average citizen. I don't know if that was based on actual convictions, or the number of times they were let go with a wink and a nod by a fellow member of the blue brotherhood, but it seemed like good data. Might have been in one of Kates's books.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to federal law you can carry a firearm if you're a licensed fisherman going to, or coming from where you plan to fish. It's the law I use to trump California's restrictions on firearms. We also have a gold claim though, so that's a double trump.

You're out of your gourd. Neither a fishing license nor a gold mining claim are a defense against local or state restrictions.

Penal Code Section 12025 does not apply to or affect the lawful transportation or
possession of a firearm under specific circumstances, including, but not limited to, the following:

Licensed hunters or fishermen while engaged in hunting or fishing, or while going
to or returning from such hunting or fishing expeditions.

See page 33.

Wow, talk about dumb. Heller will be raised, and a larger part of the gun ban could be nixed...

Extremely doubtful. In no way did Heller gain incorporation as a consequence. Neither can Heller be linked to any sort of ccw permit. That was a specific notation of the opinion.

The suit is frivolous. Just wait and Dear Leader will nix the issue on his own, in due time, anyway.
